Line Bindings

i havent skied them, but i held a ski that was mounted with them and they are insanely heavy, like 4 pounds a piece

I've held them too, and I can;t say theyre 4lbs at all.

Theyre heaview sure, because it's not just the two pieces, now you have a deakplate that connects the two. The system wouldnt work without it.

But with the atvantages of the technology, a little extra in the weight department is well worth it. Besides, it's centralized mass (close, or in this casem underneath your own body), so it won't affect your cyntrifican forces any (the forces that apply with a rotating object.. basically when you spin, you won't notice the difference).

I have them. They're good for Line cuz it saves money in that you can transfer them from ski to ski. They are different, but you get used to them.

Is it possible for you to describe how they were different?
Different good, different bad or just different?

Have you had any problems with them?

Are all your skis line skis too or do you use their mounting plate on other skis?

All of my skis are Line. They are heavier than previous bindings I've had and you center yourself a bit differently on them. I think there's a ton of threads on this in here, maybe do a search.

the weight def doesnt make a difference, and they saved my life after a 'forward-twisting fall' they are really nice.

Hey fattwins, I done a search like Christie told me to (strangely, it took me a while to find the rather obvious search box) and sorted through the crap talk and found a little information. People that own them don’t seem to be reporting any major problems with them so I think that I will buy them.
I'm not going to put them on any of the skis that I have now - I'll just leave those with the bindings they have on them. Sometime late this season I am going to buy a new park ski that I'll use them on and I might get my very first pair of race skis this year if I can find some for about $100 so I'll use them for those as I don’t want to pay for more bindings for skis I probably wont use that much.
Both the opportunity for a good deal and the death of freeze were both reasons I choose to buy line. If you don’t support the companies that TRUELY support your sport they will disappear.
A similar thing happened to body boarding. Surf companies poured in lots of money when it was “cool� and sponsored most of the events, sold us our wetsuits and sponsored the elite. Later when the winds of fashion changed slightly the big companies pulled most of the money. The contests were without major sponsors and the pros had a hard time staying pro. It has taken a while but now the sport is coming back with lots of smaller body boarder owned companies making clothes boards etc.. The money made from body boarding is staying in the sport paying the pros and making contests happen again. Now it’s not possible for some old fat guy looking for a quick buck to crush the sport.
Newschool skiing is similar in that many of the clothing producers, ski producers and (formerly) magazine owners are not newschool skiers. If some market research guy tell them that they should change their focus to make more money and that NS skiing in no longer 'in' they will stop funding it in a second. If a NS skier owned the company and was given the same information he would do his best stay in business and help in any way he could. Do you think that if a NS skier owned freeze it would be closing? If it can be in business in 1998 when there were virtually no NS skiers it can definitely be in business now. Our sport has to be run and financed by ourselves. There is plenty of money in the sport - we just have to keep it and not give it away or everything will go the way of freeze.

A little of topic but rant over.

freeze never started out to be in NS really it just went with the trends and I liked that. I got tired of the writing style though so didnt buy it much in Japan. To pricy here mate. What race skis are you looking for. I might by about to get you a pair of 7xrossi downhill skis for not much if you pay the shipping.

You are as much of a gear hound as I man. PS I dont think that you will find any reviews to your liking at the moment. Why? cause the binding has only been riden by pros or people with connections to the ski shops. We wont really know about this product untill the middle of this season. I for one like small companies but I also think companies dynastar take a lot of flak for nothing. At the end of the day a company has to make money. Dont worry skiing isnt going to die and in a few years who knows what it will become. Thats what I like about this sport mate it just never stops moving forward. Freeze will close but it wont kill us or hurt us.dont worry we will survive the next rail to balls smash-up.
