So I've been making edits for a couple of years now on iMovie and get the basics of editing and now I want a more powerful editing tool so I can learn more and incorporate better effects, smoother editing etc. I have used the trial version of premiere pro and got along well with it, but was unsuccessful at finding a version I could get to run on my Macbook pro (running OS X 10.7.5). Has anybody found any torrents which will work/can someone walk me through installing it on my mac?
Secondly, are there any other programs which I should be using alongside premiere pro to further improve my edits? I have heard of after effects but wasn't completely clear on whether that's an alternative editing tool, a program which runs alongside premiere pro or a finishing suite etc. If you think there are any other programs I should be using, links to their sites/torrents would be great.

I'm not going to say that I've exhausted the potential of iMovie. I didn't spend that long on any of them, but if I was using an editing suite which had more versatility I think I'd probably end up editing to beat more and it being a less sequential shot style. I just find it a bit of a mission on iMovie
