How many people do you think know about Steve? Is the amount that he gets "paid" (or if he even gets money from sponsors) fair compared to his fame? Im under the impression that his fame/skill/influance is overlooked greatly by his sponsors. Steve has met/coached so many kids, been in so many edits and is very well know. I feel like he is a classic example of a skier that sells product but not given much by his sponsors. Thoughts?

Whoa whoa whoa, a jab at tall ts? Valid point overall, but a jab at tall ts from a company born from the tall t craze is a bit strange.

This thread is amazing. A solid example of how to not use your company NS account. Doesn't matter if you have good arguments, if you're right, or whatever. Arguing is arguing and it will make you look stupid. Company accounts on forums should be used strictly for threads like "What's the cbl* of the Serrga jacket?" and "What's Serrga coming out with next year??" type of threads.

*Or since everyone on NS is offensively stupid it would probably say zipper length, but to educate you morons the length of a jacket is supposed to be measure by its center back length.

Stepp 1: Change password on Saga account, give only to the employee with the most mild internet-personality

I dont agree with this. yeah my initial responses we a bit over the line. we like getting involved in the threads and interacting with the people who have made this brand what it is. wheres the fun in sitting back as a boring faceless brand that never shows opinions or emotion? maybe some people dont agree with the things we do or say but in my mind its better to have an opinion, even though it may be disliked, than to just sit back and be silent.
youre never going to have everyone like what you do and say, thats impossible. were going to stay true to our beliefs and keep doing what we do. so far its worked out pretty good, despite a few bumps in the road.
the one thing we want anyone who has read this thread to know about us is that we do support the type of people mentioned in the OP. probably more so than any other company in the ski industry. not tooting our own horn just stating a fact.
but if you want to hate us and say you no longer have respect for us thats your decision. not going to try and change that. were going to keep doing things the way we want and believe in.

Back to the topic at hand, yes. I honestly believe Black Stove deserves more from sponsors as well as yourself and the other numerous freeskiing personalities. I know the business model of skiing is not set up to let these individuals thrive, but it is something I would like to see change. Captain obvious here, but same goes for the riders who focus on their film segments. I know that everyone says "it's not about the money" and "they're doing something they love", but I find the financial instability, if you will, for many influential non-comp skiers to be a scary place. Being the same age as many of you, I cannot imagine living with the security, or lack thereof, that your job entails. So big ups to you all on "living the dream".

And to "Saga's" post above, I feel like your personal views/opinions don't always seem to match up with the actual Saga brand. There is a definitive change of voice between some of your opinionated/aggressive NS posts and JPH's more modest and humble blogs. I know that you also make helpful contributions to Saga threads, but anyway, just something I've noticed in the past few months.

we all have the same goals and ideals in mind. that being said we dont express our path to them the same. I wouldnt post anything under the Saga account that wasnt supported by everyone in the company. maybe the words used to get the point across are different but the general idea is the same.

The example I had in mind writing that was a bike forum that I go on a lot. On that forum this one bike company has a guy, their lead engineer actually, who posts in the forums pretty much daily. He responds to tons of tech questions and uses it to get feedback from everyone, which he then puts into the designs of his bikes which is really cool. Everyone loves him and the company because of it. That's the kind of productive use of forums that I think would benefit Saga infinitely more than being another member of some stupid forum  debate shitstorm. I don't really care either way, you guys have worked hard to establish your brand and can do whatever you please with it as long as you're all on board. I just don't think the stigma of e-fighting in forums, even if it's in a fairly calm and respectful manner, is what I would want to attach to my brand.

I would leave the muckraking to the pros, like Steve. That's right, Steve Stepp is pro at something. Just not skiing, ever.

I'm going to have to agree with Saga on this one. Companies that sit back and really don't go toe to toe with the consumers in everyday situations don't have the creablitlity and realateablity that other smaller companies do. Saga for example, has posted on this forum that started a shit show for a lack of better term. Sure it probably wasn't the best but you cannot pick and chose what is and isn't going to happen from your posts.

All in all this thread may be dildos, or it could not be dildos, but what it is a true response to people and the companies and the passion behind skiing which is what i'm glad to see take place.

Steve stepp, don't you go dieing on me. I need to see another episode. And if this thread isn't envovled in the episode somehow, I'm going to be more dissapointed then a kid in an orphan house that didn't get taken home.

I don't know, SAGA. I agree that Andy's logic is most likely flawed however you didn't do yourself any favors in this thread. Some of your posts have made you look pretty bad. Andy didnt even call SAGA out specifically. I love that companies post on here, but sometimes you need to realize that certain threads might be a no-go. Its great that you want to share your views but sometimes this a terrible terrible idea. You can say all you want to about how you're glad not to be a boring company and how it's good to have an opinion... but I know that you know you messed up, and you know that I know you messed up. Saga, your product is marketed towards a niche community, all you did by posting strong opinions and arguing with a big name on this site was make your consumer base even smaller. Fail, big time.

Maybe talk about getting this dude Andy Parry guy on the team? Lol last year me and the Line guys sent an email to POC about getting some helmets and got the response, "Send in a resume and DVD with skiing in the mail". Just like 2002!!!

Good to see company's like Saga and Bern hooking up non comp riders. Its what skiing needs more of!!!
