i am looking to buy skis which serve as a one-ski-quiver.
here are what i have in mind, not decided yet:
• moment bibby pro (118mm waist)
• on3p billy goat (118mm waist)
• rossignol s7 (115mm waist)
• icelantic shaman (110mm waist)
• atomic automatic (117mm waist)
• armada magic j (127mm waist)
my question is about brake width. before i buy my skis, i plan to find a suitable binding, so that i can check any possible faults or problems people have had in the past, and also to make sure i'm within my budget.
what i want to know is whether you need a binding which suggests mounting on skis that are thinner than its brakes. i have seen the rossignol fks 140 & look pivot 14 bindings, which both offer 115mm brakes at the same price, and also the rossi fks 180 & look pivot 18 which give 130mm brakes, also for the same price.
would it be necessary to purchase a binding with 130mm brakes just so that i could mount & use it on e.g. the on3p billy goat (118mm), or is actually possible to use brakes which suggest skis of 115mm waist on this 118mm waist ski?
thanks for any advice +k
