The JJ's are a game changer. You name it, the JJ crushes it (except for park, but who would fucking try that?) I wish I would have gotten the AK JJ, but I wasn't 6'4" when I bought the 185's, and now they're a bit small.
i have been sponsored by several brands over the last 10 years, not claiming, just explaining that i have been a ski snob after going from k2 to line to ninthward, and finally to armada for the last two seasons, and i have never skied such a great ski as the ak jj's! im a bigger dude, so i ride the 95's, and they are so good side to side, even though they are so big. i can ride them everywhere (except rails) and can really feel how much better they are! go armada! keep up the great job boys...
Does anyone have experience with throwing Dukes on them? Thinking about getting a pair for slackcountry/touring, but wondering how heavy they'll end up being...Suggestions
i had barons on mine, honestly it's a pretty killer combo for slackcountry. not too heavy and there's no worries on the descent. if you're mainly riding inbounds/slackcountry with the occasional longer tour it's hard to imagine a better set up. if i was riding more backcountry (or with dudes who can get uphill faster than my current crew) i might have opted for a lighter set up, but god damn the jj/baron combo just makes the downhill too fun. if you don't mind carrying a little extra weight that combo should treat you real nice.
I love my JJs. I got 185s, but I was shorter when I got them. So now I wish I had the 195s. But regardless they are still so fun. Honestly I love skiing park on them. It's so fun to me.
Thanks for the help guys...I have bents now with dukes...but I could tell the only time they were nice was in 1 foot plus of snow and way too rockered...being I'm an ice coaster I make 2-3 trips out west a year and want something that can be my 6+ inch fresh snow ski while I already have alpha 1s for screwing around on the small mountains...
I have fritschie freerides on them as my main bc setup. they slip ocasionally on climbs because of the camber proficle but overall are great because they are so versitile and can be used in any condition. The ski itself is really light so they work well.
IMO 5 way side cuts are an awful every day ski... if you actually get it up on edge... your 185 ski, which my JJ is, turns into a like a 150 on the crud and groomers. Every day i stick to traditional side cut w/ early rise. Much more versatile...
in pow totally different but ill stick to my 4FRNT Turbo's as a daily.
agree mostly but the JJ is still playful on the groomers if your going to just jib around and live somewhere like the NW, BC, or AK where there is lots of regular snow then its a perfect everyday ski
