How to shorten ski poles

i got new poles but there too big and i want to cut them.

Take off grip

Cut pole using pipe cutter

Put grip back on.

Put the grips in boiling water for 5 to 10 minutes and they will slip off like butter

1. Heat up the grips with a heat gun, and pull the grips off
2. Cut the poles to your desired length with a metal-cutting saw
3. If need be, sand the top of the poles, and reapply the grips

The easiest way to get grips off pretty much any pole is with boiling water heat gun can burn or warp shit.

I just turned my tap to hot, put my pole under for a bit, and used some leverage from closing a door on the grip to take it off. Putting it back on I ran them under hot water and just forced them on.

What kind of poles? I had joysticks and they were impossible to take off, but Scotts come off no problems.

i have had joysticks and they all came off fine... that being said if its an aluminum standard pole with standard grip it WILL come off. +1 for boiling water deff easiest.

Has anyone ever cut Solomon Brigades? The ones with the leather around them? It seems like the leather would make it impossible

To put the grips back on, I would recommend spraying the pole with hair spray. They should slide right on, and the spray will dry to a pretty solid glue. We did this at a bike shop I worked at for grips on handlebars.

the best way to put the grips back on is to put some wd40 on the inside of the grip and on the ski pole.

Boil water. Dunk grip in boiling water. Pull grip off. Cut pole. Put grip back on. Repeat with other pole.

if you have trouble getting the grip off, just take a heat gun or hair dryer to the top of it for a few minutes and it will loosen it up
