Proposed drug testing bill - legislature

I was reading the newspaper and came across proposed bills in Nevada (where I live).
One that caught my eye was about drug testing for public aid.

A summarized description of the article is that anyone in Nevada would be required to go through drug testing/screenings for illegal drugs to receive public assistance, including food stamps or Medicaid.
If they test positive for illegal drugs or if they refuse drug screening/treatment, they will be denied public assistance unless they enroll in some sort of treatment program. A person would be exempt from drug screenings if he or she has prescriptions for medical marijuana/other prescription drugs. A person would also be exempt if he or she is and above 65-years-old or if a person is already in treatment.
It's said that the purpose is to help people with substance abuse problems rather than deny them aid.

So I was curious to see what all of you have to say about this proposed bill...are you for or against it?

Florida already had this bill passed if I remember. I definitely think its a good idea.

Good idea in theory but when it was implemented in Florida I don't believe it actually worked out well as it ultimately cost the tax payers more money

Yeah, the article says that Florida, Missouri, and Arizona passed a similar bill.

As a drug using tax payer I think it's awesome. Hopefully if I ever need assistance from programs that I've paid into I'll be denied, so that some christ loving land whale doesn't lose her foot to diabetes because I was forced to subsidize corn-syrup.

all these people addicted to drugs that recieve EBT sell the shit for cash anyway. At least they won't be given that option for free money to continue fueling their habit.

From a fiscal standpoint it makes no sense.

The Florida law was written by the private clinic industry which profits from administering the tests.

It has cost millions more in administration costs than it has saved in reduced benefits.

There are more efficient ways of cutting waste in the system.

The cost is the main limiting factor in where its done or not done. Plus, every time some one passes its essentially a waste of time and money for the government. Also, speaking from personal experience it is absurdly easy to substitute clean piss if you are in a jam. So what then are we going to upgrade to parole officer style testing where some dude is staring at your dick watching the pee come out. Its just not a good idea. personally i dont care if poor people want to smoke pot just because you are getting financial aid from the government doesnt mean you should be treated like an inmate.

by cost going up I mean taxes. cause this shit isnt cheap
and crime because now instead of food stamps, people will be stealing, mugging and robbing.
it may not. I just feel like there will be a correlation.
