Need new editing software

I've been making edits with windows movie maker, but it's very simple with barely any effects. It's easy to use, but I wanna get a bit more fancy with my editing software. I'm wondering what's good and cheap that'll allow me to start maker better videos.

vegas 9 or 10 would be nice I think but adobe cs6 could be good too, just gonna take you awhile to figure everything out but it will be worth it. Try out the adobe trial for 30 days, if you like it then crack it.
