it's not real life ready. the coating is so fragile that just a simple touch will remove the coating

It probably has both the water proofing and the breathability of sheet metal.  Probably not the most comfortable

mountain hardware already have something similar on the market called q-shield, lasts 400 washes which is actually better than conventional DWR coatings, in store we demoed it with a tissue it was pretty rad http://www.mountainhardwear.com/Q.Shield/Qshield,default,pg.html
