Personally I am always super stoked on this. Its actually my favorite skiing competition of the year. They also changed up the format and now the top 10 finalists all get an invite to the Sun Valley park shoot in april. Over the week level 1 will drop updates, and then will create a segment for the new movie. I think that this change in format is a great idea, and hopefully will help draw great talent and seperate the boys from the men.

I predict some entries from Hood Crew and Toy Soldiers, but I think the winner will be an unknown who really needs the exposure and $$$.



Anyone want to share some stoke? Predictions? Any idea who is putting out an entry?

Bulzan's edit was crazy, he should have threw in more jumping and maybe he could have gotten a spot. It is a contest to go to a spring park shoot after all, not an urban contest.

Wow, Sam and Brad not in finals? Really? Sam's edit gives me goosebumps everytime I watch it and Brad has some of the most absurd shots I've seen from anyone all season. I'm veeerrrryyy interested to see who made finals.

Well said, those edits were wild! I'm very curious to see what the finalist entries look like because all of the semi-finalist edits set the bar extremely high.

Not sure if it is because I know some of these semi-finalists...but I am having a serious issue as to how good the finalists will be...Sam/Brad/Briggles all with hammers. Maybe next year ill make a movie with the production company name Level 2. 1 step higher

Everyone is acting so shocked that these are just the semi-finalists. Overall, I feel like most entries show that people can do a million different switch up combos, do a fair bit of urban, hit medium sized park jumps, and can make creative gestures at the camera. I really haven't seen any that make you say oh FUK! Who is this kid? How did he do that. Guess that is what the finals will be.

Yeah still not really blown away with anyone's edit.. I liked Jens' skiing though, that 270 japan.. and Sam always delivers.

Your friend is a very good skier. All of the semi-finalists are very good skiers. Nobody has done anything that makes me think they definitely deserve to have professionals and helicopters film them on a private park set up. Do you think level 1 gives a shit if your friend can slide a 4" wide plastic tube sticking out of the ground or a tip roll?

I thought his superunknown entry was sick. Switch lip near modern display and the lip 2 were dirty. But nothing he did makes me think he deserves to film with l1p anymore than the others. Just my opinion, no need to back your friend up anytime someone posts something slightly negative that isn't even directed towards them.

surprised brad didnt make finals fo sho. hes and urban nut. sam's was real sick too. i feel like briggs last shot kept him outta finals, he hit the stairs the whole way down, if he stomped it i feel like he would have been in.

That 180 could be in a movie for sure, all time banger. So could a few of his other shots. But it's not exactly a "best urban" edit contest, so hard one to call. Props to Bulzan though, and that whole crew!

I do have some plans/ideas for next year. We will just have to see what happens now wont we :) Had a few legal setbacks this year limiting what I could do.

all of brad's shots were far more insane and high-energy than anything imlach did here (no hate on imlach, it was really a dope edit and i love what he does), so how can you state that this was not a "best urban edit" contest when almost all of past winner logan's jib shots were urban, and all of brad's were exponentially gnarlier than his? you are full of shit.

Havnt read the rules, but wouldn't the finalists be chosen from the semi finalists, or have they already decided the finalists. Maybe they want to see the internet opinion before choosing

There is a difference this year though. The finalists go to a park shoot. In other words, they probably aren't looking for an urban guy this time around.

Please do not think that 1 or 2 people make these decisions. We had almost our entire crew involved in the selection just to narrow it down to 10, and everybody had different opinions all across the board...fuckin difficult process. The finalists are the videos that had the most agreement in common.

and to that kid complaining about creativity, 270 tap out of a 16 foot+ high closeout is pretty fucking creative. anyone who says otherwise is either blind or retarded.

It is different this year.

All previous years were for a chance to film with Level 1 in general, no specifics.

This year, its for a spot at a park shoot. Now, we haven't seen the finalists yet so I can't say for sure, but I would think park shots > urban shots this time around, and Brad's park shots, well they are good, were nothing that Level 1 doesn't already have in their talent pool.

I guess I should rephrase- If it was an urban contest, Brad Bulzan probably would have won.

But it isn't. Street is fuckin awesome to see and counts for something, but it's not necessarily a defining factor. Watch all ten years of these things and you will see that.
