Personally I am always super stoked on this. Its actually my favorite skiing competition of the year. They also changed up the format and now the top 10 finalists all get an invite to the Sun Valley park shoot in april. Over the week level 1 will drop updates, and then will create a segment for the new movie. I think that this change in format is a great idea, and hopefully will help draw great talent and seperate the boys from the men.

I predict some entries from Hood Crew and Toy Soldiers, but I think the winner will be an unknown who really needs the exposure and $$$.



Anyone want to share some stoke? Predictions? Any idea who is putting out an entry?

Can't wait to see them! I kind of like seeing a bunch of Breck, Key, or Park City edits because it's crazy to see how different people do on the same features.

totally the opposite for me, I'm kind of tired to see edits of skier from breck, all the same rails and jump over and over again. it gets boring imo

YOU are straight trippin fool. Torvinen is one of the illest out and has a style that is both unique and seamless. Take a step back and quit the unwarranted hate on one of the nicest cats in skiing. He simply likes to ski, is great at it, and wanted to try at a shot with Level 1. Damn

I feel like some entries such as ones from the TSP guys aren't actually "superunknown." Don't get me wrong, I think TSP is sick but I dont think some of their more known riders are actually superunknown.

^This, not to mention Level 1 is stacked with park shredders already. Last year I couldn't believe how many entries were ALL shots from key or breck parks, and really just pretty standard park shots. Sick riding no doubt, but Level 1 has plenty of guys who can do that already. They generally pick winners with unique styles and/or guys from places that are hard to get exposure.

As long as you aren't getting paid as a skier beyond gear hookups and travel then you can enter. its pretty clear.

Said it once, and will say it again since Jon Brogan beat Nick Martini this entire competition has become such a joke.

Who cares who wins, the competition lost its prestige after Level1 picked riders who clearly didn't have the best entry.

Implying "best" is a standard of measure and not a matter of preference and the needs of a company at any specific time.

You're pretty damn silly if you think you can just judge the "best" entry of ANY superunknown (besides wallisch's year, when he both the best style and tricks) without a doubt. Get real fool

I hope they'll be unknown, but I'll probably already know their name. Logan Imlach is the only time I was surprised on the winner, and he was a great addition to level 1 imo

Lets just quit skiing and start figure skating where style and technicality dont matter and unless you fall 20 times you are still going to win if the judge tought so before our program.


Level 1's superunknown give visibility to many unknown riders and whoever they decide to film is their own choice.

From what I saw, in the first 3 seasons of superunknown, most of the superunkown's finalist ended up filming with level 1 at some point. They just film why who they want to film.

I dont see why Henrik would be filming with TGR and I dont see why daren rahlve would have filmed with level 1. Both of them are incredible skiers tho.


PS: I cant wait to see the edits.

First, they release the honorable mentions. I think that's around 15 of the 100+ entries they got this year.

Then after that, they release the finalists. In the previous set-up they chose the winner out of those finalists after that.

But the thing is that it's a pretty new set up this year, so who knows, they might just pick the finalists and send em to Idaho.
