Pushing film - 3 stops.

Hey guys, so I've been goofing off with pushing and pulling for a while, but I just got my hands on some Delta 3200 to shoot some high-speed stuff. Ilford claims it can be pushed to 250000! That's crazy.

Anyone ever pushed films 3 stops? Max I've pushed is only 1 stop with some tri-X and HP5 to test results... I would definitely be curious to know how pushing a film like this 3 stops would turn out. I'm guessing grainier than the contents of a Nebraska Farm silo, but I'm still curious.

Ilford Delta 3200 is not natively ISO 3200, but rather around ISO 1000, with the ability to be pushed comfortably to 3200 for low light shooting.

Haha yeah

this is delta 3200 in 120 developed in adonal (woo hoo extra grain), shot this in Seattle after this years elections

is there some sorta resource or website that says what type of film looks like pushed to different stops?

i tried out underexposing velvia 50 by one stop and i really liked the results.

it be nice if we could all post how our experiments with pushing films went.

Just go on flickr and search delta 3200 push, thats how I found the first image.

Just to prove how it works, I searched "velvia 400 cross"

There is a website i found earlier, but it doesn't show what delta 3200 looks like @25000. It does show 12500. Which is super grainy as well.

For the biggest part it has to do with what kind of developer you use. A developer like acufine/diafine is so incredibly different than Rodinal that you can tell (more-or-less) what the result will be.

use a low energy developer and stand develop to control the grain

or dev in rodonal with 5 inverts every 30 seconds for SUPER GRAIN

If you're pushing, don't use Rodinal unless you're doing stand development. Get Diafine or Acufine if you want to push(pretty much any film). Some films push nicely with some developers, others don't.

Rodinal 1+25 continuous agitation for 3 mins then wash

I've had a couple rolls of ilford delta 3200 for my 35 but I'm hesitant to shoot them because I can't decide if I want to push... Ruining good rolls through experimenting is so fucking annoying.

technically to shoot delta 3200 @ 3200 you push it a stop as it's really rated at 1600

I tried that once. I think I got the dev times wrong or something, cause it looked weird (weirder than it should). There were images, but my scanner was derping hard. I used x-tol I think, it was a while ago. Maybe look into using t max developer or rodinol or something, isn't t max supposed to help with shadow detail?
