Do all park skis chip and peel like crazy? I saw some peoples skis at the mountain, and they had to duct tape the ski top sheet to make sure that it wouldn't fall apart. My chronics are in pretty decent condition. I would say 9/10. Can i have some pictures? Pics will receive k+

Skis built with sidewall construction are prone to topsheet chipping. It's always going to happen if you hit your skis together often. I've found that you can limit it by sanding down areas that are starting to chip and putting some marine epoxy over it.

Park skis are gonna get trashed. Accept that now or stay on the groomers.

I was devastated when I chipped my first pair of twins. Two weeks later, the top sheets were no where near new.

I had a pair of Line Invaders two seasons ago. Those skis had so many deep cap chips. Some revealed the wood color below the cap, but none striked all the way through the fiberglass layer.

I rode those things hard. Mounted 2.5 times and sold them to another user on this board who still rides them. I honestly wouldn't worry about. Chances are, a ski slapping the top sheet or cap of opposing ski won't ever carry enough force to constitute as a "core shot."

I might post some pictures of my abused Invaders later on (second full season on 'em). That will put your mind at ease.

My chronics are getting pretty chipped along the inside of the capwall, Ive been trying to ride my left ski on the right foot and vice versa to make the chipping and edge dulling more even

Lol that's nothing! I love it when my Joysticks get cracks and chips, some of the gnarlier ones represent crashes or times I've barely rode something out. They're badges of honor and achievement.

bump anyone else? I saw some other people with park skis at my mountain and they look really new compared to mine, and they were banging them together and beating their skis up like hell. I skied with these for about 5-6 days, and this is the result, plus a few others. In total, about 30 chips all revealing the fiberglass layer. Do you think this may be a factory defect?

relax bro... its gonna happen... its just visual, the ski is meant to be thrashed like that... it dosent ruin the structual integrity of the ski unless its like down to the base. Stop pissing yourself and go ski

Dude holy shit your skis are basically brand new, no reason to worry about those extremely small imperfections. Even if they do get chipped, its just cosmetic and since they are your first skis I doubt you are skiing hard enough to get down to the wood core. Just don't clap your skis together on the lift, and otherwise learn to not care what your topsheets look like. I'll post some pics of my suspects when I get home, they are pretty thrashed but I ain't even mad.

Wear and tear comes from use and that's what we see in those pics. In the age old battle between steel edges whacking against plastic, the steel has won every time unfortunately.

But is it ok if the chips go through/reach the fiberglass? the top sheet seems very un durable, considering that i baby my skis, and i have only ridden them a hand full of times.

all good .. if you whack through to the core (if you see wood) you'll want to seal that up so moisture doesnt get in.

And the Carbon Fiber topsheet .. good concept and you'll need a bunch more paychecks to pay for those .. it would be about a $1200 ski!

How about mine guys? It's hard to tell but the dent on the base is actually pretty deep, I can't tell how deep but it goes below the surface of the base for sure. I was thinking of cutting it with nailclippers and getting it filled in or something. Also will moisture get in that chip on the topsheet?

I'm too lazy to post pictures but the cap part of the cap wall on my this years chronics are pretty chipped. Part of the sidewall even peeled out. Love the way the skis ride, dont love the way they chip. I would buy them again.

Dude your skis look brand new, there is nothing even close to being defective with your ski.

On another note, does my skis need the fixz? Werrnty maybeez? I hitta rock, dis ski defectives?

There are also a lot of other smaller dings on the skis but on the big stuff I just cleaned it a little and threw some epoxy over top to keep it sealed up.
