Flatspin Fail. I need some help asap!

I was trying flatspins for my first time today, and I wasn't getting the right rotation. Not sure what I was doing, but here's what happened:

It's bad, I know, but it's my first attempt. I need advice on how to properly start and carry out the rotation.

Did you try more than one time? It looks like you are about ti set the right spin, but pussy out and stops tye flipping. I would say you have to try more times and just go for it.

pop off later so ur skis and ur body are going off the same time so there wont be this shifty thing that stops ur rotation, then reach for a japan grab (easiest one) and u'll be fine!

Alright, thanks. Ya, I have a problem with popping before the lip most of the time. I'm not sure it is an issue with not committing though because it felt like I stalled in air, which is why I started flailing. Very well could be though, haha. Thanks for the response. I'll be trying it again soon.

it looks like when you went off the jump you set the rotation with your upper body then kind of awkwardly jerked your legs around. try to set them at the same time and keep your middle body flexed to keep your skis from lagging behind

Pop, then drop your shoulder back to reach for japan. Pretty much throws you into the rotation
Also, keep your core tight so your legs arent just flailing behind

You just didn't commit, as others said. Visualize a post about 10-15 feet to the left of you, and just kick your right leg up at it. As you kick your right leg across your body and up, keep your head looking straight forward. This will start the rotation, then you just pull it around. This is how I visualize mine, at least.

And I envy you. Learning new tricks with a snowmobile pull in onto a pow landing.

Ya, I'll have another go at it when I go back home in a few weeks. On the landing, there was about 3 - 3.5 feet of fluffy powder. That downslope stretches across the whole field too, so all you have to go is keep making kickers beside each other. Even when I packed it out, there was still about a foot underneath! It was amazing. Thanks to you and everyone else for the advice! It helps a lot.

I haven't tried this on skis, but i used to be able to do a side flip to ground. Just drop your hip, commit, and tuck a little at first. Same overall motion, don't believe me, go try it. Also try on a tramp or into snow standing on something higher and move it to skis.
