favorite
the fact that it can take great photos too, its lightweight, nice price for an hd camera

dislike
my audio frequently goes really loud for a second at the beginning of clips, movie recording stopped automatically (i have a class 10 and proper bitrate but it still happens), no 108060p, not a full frame sensor. sometimes i really wish it had the shape of a camcorder.

Favorite:
I can very effectively take BOTH good photos and videos. I really don't know which of the two I like more the camera is so good at both.

Least Favorite:
Very slow sequence shot ability (4ish per second I think) and has to stop sequence to buffer after only 6ish shots

Cons: Not the best high-ISO performance on the market (anymore)

Canon 7
Pro's: It's small and a joy to use
Cons: Right now my rangefinder lines are messed up

Mamiya 645
Pro's: Gotta love those big negs
Cons: It's pretty big. With the film winder attached it's humongous

TLR
Pro's: I love shooting with a WLF because it's not super apparent you're shooting
Cons: Only goes up to 1/300 (damn you leaf shutter!)

Nikon D7000
Pros: awesome dynamic range and color tonality + 17-55mm lens is stunning
Cons: bulky even with a prime

Olympus PEN E-P2
Pros: perfect small size combined with exceptional quality primes (12mm, 20mm, 25mm, 45mm, 75mm)
Cons: focus tracking and flash support is not the same as Nikon

Off my film stuff:

Nikon F
Favourite: It always works, the fully removable back making loading film easy as pie.
Least favourite: price of accessories, the aperture tooth and hook thing from the meter make swapping lenses 90 times more annoying.

Zenit 11:
Favourite: build from old tanks, could be used as a weapon, selenium meter is solid.
Least favourite: Only has 6 shutter speed settings: 500, 250, 125, 60, 30 and B, the film advance lever that needs more then 270 degrees of motion to cock.

Rollei XF35:
Favourite: Tiniest range finder ever. Crazy sharp lens.
Least favourite: suddenly stopped working.

Konica C35:
Favourite: nothing
Least favourite: that it tries to look like a rangefinder but isn't.

Olympus XA1:
Favourite: smallest thing ever, crazy sharp lens..
Least favourite: no settings.

Polaroid XC 70:
Favourite: So beautiful, so good looking, so pretty.
Least favourite: no tripod mount, the price of film.

Polaroid ImagePro:
Favourite: tripod mount
Least favourite: ugly and made from cheap plastic and the price of film.

Olympus O-Product:
Favourite: those looks, those looks, that size, the aluminium body.
Least favourite: the form factor requires alien hands.

-The shutter derps/sticks at slower speeds, self timer is dead.

Canon s110
-Pocket size, great images, full manual control, digital
-Point and shoot auto focus. I like a split image with manual, but a p and s isn't gonna have that.

There no advantage to ff and with a crop your tele lenses are way longer too which is nice. I hate the preconceived notion that the bigger the sensor the better its just marketing bullshit

In your case as you are a videographer you are right, but dslr sensor's are not designed to be restricted to 1080p.

From a photographer's point of view full frame is very nice, way higher IQ, better iso performance, easier UWA, better dynamic range, higher pixel density etc..

I'd take 12-bit over RAW or 4K or any other new feature.

I wish recording was initiated with a metal switch rather than a button, like on the Arri 16mm cams.

My favorite things about my GH2 are the quality of the 1080p24 and the ability to adapt virtually any lens. I also quite like the 2x crop.

Least favorite are the workflow with the avchd files and the fact that it seems to have been manufactured by fisher price.

It's not that heavy, weight is even nicely balanced.
More annoying is the market price of some of the accessories.

But lugging that and a big lens around on say a full day hike is a annoying. Whatever, it's a bomber slr. And yeah, I was lucky mine came with a bunch of things, different screens, metered prism, I even have the grip/winder which is so lolz, easily triples the weight!

but anyways I just got a gh3 and the flip out screen is nice and the extra weight of the body will be nice for glidecaming and obviously the video trumps canon, but other than that its kind of annoying. The adapter I have doesnt show the aperture, and its driving me kind of insane, but the decklicked part nice is nice i guess. I really dont like the record button its hard to press and it sucks how you cant take a picture in video mode. I dont like how you cant reach the playback button with one hand either, I also dislike how the neutral profile looks when you go -5 across compared to canon's flat profile. I feel like with the gh3 it gets way too white and with the vivid profile on -5 the shadows are still a little too dark but with a little grading its fine. The crop factor is also annoying in the sense if I want to get a tamron 17-50 again Im going to want to get the speedbooster because 17 with the 2.0 crop is just too tight, with canon you could still squeeze in fairly wide shots.

Upgrading really made me appreciate the ergonomics of the t2i, that camera is the shit.

Interesting thoughts... Why do you hate not being able to see your aperture on screen? I run an all manual set of lenses besides my 11-16 and i love changing on the lens.

I will agree that the image is way to contrasty and punchy even at it lowest setting. Its a bummer this camera never got hacked.

What lenses did you end up going with? Voigtlander?

i used to have a 20d and now i nikon d5100 wich is ok the video is good ish but i dont like the color on it and it can be a bit anoying. but i would rather have a fujifilm x100s or x100t for stills and shit and a actual camcorder for video.

I'll just list the cameras I actually use on at least a semi-regualar basis.


Nikon D600.

Pros: Full Frame. Mic and Headphone jack for audio monitoring. Well built. Decent burstrate. Great VF. Decent AF. HDMI out recording. Uses any Nikon lens dating to 1977. Awesome low light performance. Great battery life.

Cons: that whole thing with oil on the sensor - although somehow I've managed to not have this issue at all??

Nikon F80.

Pros: basically my D600 but uses film. But smaller and lighter due to the fact. Great fit in the hands. Takes the same lenses as the D600.

Cons: AF is retardo sometimes, especially in low light. not an F100. Not an F5.


Hasselblad 500C

Pros: Zeiss glass. Medium format. Sexy V-series. Made by Hasselblad. Modular. Vintage hipster shit makes women drop their panties.

Cons: Sunny 16 all day. Heavy as balls. VF without a prism gets confusing if you haven't been using it for a while and forget.

Minolta SRT 202.

Pros: Takes photos. Cheap glass. Can murder anyone you throw it in the direction of and then take their morgue photos later. Simple as hell. Replaceable as shit. Makes Pulitzer worthy photos with the NS M&A guide to photography.

Cons: Can murder your wrists due to the weight. Stupid plastic piece on the film advance always breaks off and it's uncomfortable otherwise.

Canon AE1/AT1

Pros: Won't stop working ever. Uses cheap glass. Bitches love Canons.

Cons: No Aperture priority AE. Everyone else has them so not so hip.

Olympus infinity Stylus.

Pros: So stupid cheap. Lens is adequate. AF is decent and not loud as fuck. Small as hell. Black, so ninja for street shooting. Looks like a toy, so candids all day. Fits in your pocket.

Cons: Only Auto controls. Flash is always on when you start it up, so you have to turn it off. Looks like a toy, so you won't get your D sucked for having a sexy camera. Slowish lens.

Canon M35AF

Pros. 40 f1.9 lens that's real sharp. Good VF. takes AA batteries. Cost me 99c.

Cons. Sounds like a chainsaw when you shoot it or rewind the film. Weighs a shitload for a plastic camera. The AF gets confused if there's not crazy contrast.

Canon 1Ds (yeah, I still have this fucking thing haha)

Pros: Bitches love big Canons. Everyone thinks you're a pro. Great AF. Great VF. Sounds like a lasergun. Full Frame. Weatherproof as shit. top and rear LCD screens lights up BLUE! Metal. Looks like a creature from the movie Alien. Better Flash Sync than Jamie's 5D3 LOL.

Cons: Everyone thinks you're a pro. Low light performance is LOLOL bad. WORST REVIEW SCREEN EVER. Can't even enlarge your photos to pixelpeep. weighs literally a metric ton. Batteries are old as shit. Charger will not fit in any bag you own. Menu is crap. Slowest burst rate ever makes you really wish it was at least a 1D2n Not as easy to use as a 5Dc, even if it's VF is lightyears better and it's able to survive being fully submerged. Not even a Digic Processor?

right now Ive got a tokina and I have a canon fd lens and I cant figure out if the lens is broken or not. I know you have to adjust the little marks on the back of the glass before you mount it but everytime I do it its just stuck wide open, and if I dont its just stuck closed.

But yeah I want your voigtlander so fucking bad, would you ever consider renting it out?

Fuji X-T1

Pros: Perfect size, solid construction, weather sealing, dials galore, killer lens line up, firmware updates, and an amazing evf.

Cons: The double exposure feature is trash. It's not a real double exposure at all, just an image overlay. I'm not a big fan of the focus by wire, but their newer lenses have hard stops which is immensely better. Slow sync speed of 1/180th. And last but not least, the fact that Lightroom isn't the best software for converting Fuji raw files. I've seen examples of other software that produce sharper files but I don't want to ditch Lightroom as the workflow is better/more natural.

All in all, I wouldn't want any other digital camera on the market over this one.
