Another Jon Brogan Thread

So lately I've been hooked on the old Brogan/Weinberger edits which sucks because they're pretty much the only remembrance we have of him video-speaking besides a few clips in the Level 1 movies and Duncan's edits. I never truly appreciated his skiing until a few months ago when I realized we don't have skiers like that anymore who mainly focus on style. Sure, we have Stept, B&E, but there was and never will be anyone like Brogan.

With that I ask two things:
1. What is the real reason he quit? I know he got sick of the industry and then there was that really bad car accident, but I feel like there's something more to it. I always got the vibe that he really liked flossin' on fools with those ride-a-ways, therefore I don't see why he would so abruptly quit.

2. Are there any rare edits/shots of him most people don't know about or have been previously unknown? Sure, the Weinberger edits will always be classics, but I'm really Jonesin' (see what I did there?) for some new shit. Also, someone fucking find those two edits that Brogan and Warnick did together in Breck.

that interview did not answer any relevant questions. Brogan was the illest skier for sure back when he actually skied and its a huge disappointment to see guys like that drop out of the game (for whatever reason it was). Its even more disappointing to find out about guys like that ending their ski careers just to go chill in boulder, something which seems to be happening more and more.

He spent three years perfecting his style before he filmed. So basically he never watched himself ski until he perfected how he wanted to ski. His friend who went to Harvard gave him the idea I guess.

Pretty sure threads like this, all the attention he got, all the stuff people asked of him, and all of the pressure he was 'under' to pull through on this kind of stuff is what made him quit. Pretty lame if you ask me, especially if your such a dope skier like him; just tune it out and keep skiing, but whatever I guess he couldn't deal with it.

i believe it was a combination of a car crash and being overwhelmed. he go hurt pretty bad in the crash and then one people started throwing triples he said fuck this. if you watch any edits of him he really doesnt double often. i wish he stayed with it though he was sick. hes now into making music...dubstep.

I'll agree that Brogan is steezy as a motherfucker but he's still overrated. no need to revere him as a jesus figure in the sport of freeskiing.

missin brogan these days. triples and shit now, i dont mind it but watching that jiberish edit made me miss the days were you didnt need to be able to dub to be huge in the ski community.

brogz probably has a trust fund and gave up on skiing though haha. at least keep skiing and maybe try and do your own thing and change the sport your own way brogan if you hate skiing so much. pussy.

In the 08/09 season, Warnick and Brogan put together a two-part edit series called "The Ignancy", but it was taken down eventually do to a copyright claim on the song and now no one has the file. It sucks because those edits were, well, ignant.

After the crash Brogan had to take it easy and just relax for a lil while, he got busy playing around with music and DJing and got really into it. He DJs in Boulder now quite a lot and lives there. I'm not sure if it was just that he got so into DJing that after the accident he decided not to get back out on skis, or if he just didn't feel like staying in the scene.

When was this crash?? I guess after a major injury you gotta either come back with everything you have like Tanner and Carlson, or just accept that your time is over. He probably had already peaked, and thought it would be a good time to quit.
