Contracted labor in NY for the Summer?

So basically I'm trying to find some good-paying contract labor this summer, hoping to make a 10k lump sum. I had a buddy work for Renssalaer county last summer, he made 10g's over 6 weeks of disaster clean up. I was wondering if anyone in NY has heard of such a thing? I know it's a long shot asking NSG, but this search is proving difficult. All suggestions welcome!

Yeah, ummm, have you considered how much 10K in 6 weeks is? That works out to just shy of $80K a year. You realize that is more than most middle-class professionals make, right? If such jobs existed, the line to get one would stretch down the block, through town, down 87, through NYC, and into NJ. It would also be full of people far more qualified than you. I'm not saying it is impossible, but it is VERY unlikely. Hate to break it to you buddy, but unskilled labor is almost always $10 an hour, with no benefits and no guarantee of long-term employment.

Oh, and if you happen to find one of these jobs, please do share. I will quit my job and come work it.
