Critique my first wedding

Hey guys, I made a thread a while back about shooting my first wedding and some questions I had about it. Well that is all over now and I am finished with the video.

Overall I am pretty happy with how it turned out I know there are some shakes and bumps in the shots but it is what it is now and I dont think it takes that much away (although I wish they werent there)

Next wedding I think I will be much more prepared because this one was very rushed and I was always running around to get shots, It was alot more work then I thought it would be!

But I thought I would post the Highlight reel here just to hear what you guys have to say, Be harsh because I will learn more that way! Thanks! +k

here we go, i will be harsh:

• first thing, i wouldn't use john + mindy, i'd use john & mindy (it's a wedding, not mathematics)
• you were pretty close on the bride shot at 1:11, i would have included her whole body in the frame
• shot at 1:15 was money!
• 1:18 i wouldn't have gone down with the camera, it would have been nice to see his expression for a little longer
• 1:32 show him playing, then show just his hands & the guitar at 1:36, without so much messing around with the zoom
• 1:49 - 1:53 was nice but why did you drop towards the end?
• colour change at 2:15 was good, added something
• 2:30 was nice and energetic, had a great feeling to it, then again 2:36 was a bit wild and too close
• 2:44 - 3:01 was great, but i wouldn't have used a before-the-wedding shot as the fade out scene

Thanks this helps a lot! I will take all these tips to better my next one!

I had to go down on the shot at 1:49-53 because I had a cam on a tripod in the back of the church to get the whole thing. and yea the shot at 2:36 I get what you mean about it being wild thats one of my least fav shots. and the last shot I was also a bit hesistant about using because it stepped out of order of the rest of the video but I felt it was the perfect ender so I went with it. But I would've have liked to stay with the time.

Ok, here we go:

0:16 Shot was soft and unncecesary, because you had the exact same shot - but better - directly after
1:51 Why did you go down?
1:53 Shot was say underexposed. Especially compared to the other shots before and after it.
1:58 Try overexposing a little when you're shooting into the light. You can barely see their faces

Overall:
Lots of focus pulling; it's cool, but don't overuse it!
I wouldn't pan away as much either.
You're close to the action, which is good, but I've barely seen any shots of the bride and groom in full!

Good job! I really liked the mellow feel. The song complemented the small wedding very well!

@ 1:51 I went down cause I had to avoid getting in the way of a camera on a tripod and and I agree with what you said on the rest of them!

I would like to get to a point where I can do alot slower motion because right now all my pans and focus pulls move way to fast!

and yea I need to definitely get more full shots of the bride and groom!
