Running with camera

hi,

i've recently been getting into trailrunning. i did a few nice trails in summer which went up to around 2000m, and sometimes totaled 10-20km in a day.

now that i'm living in a city (with no chance of skiing without going to stay somewhere for a few days), i have just started going on runs to keep fit. i don't really enjoy running on streets or tarmac though, i prefer being out on trails or going up mountains and hills, especially since i had knee surgery and would like to keep the impact at a minimum.

anyway it turns out there are a few cool places where i'd like to shoot some photos, which are within accessible running distance, but i'm worried about running with a dslr. i heard that the motion will do bad things to the crystals (?) or the sensor inside my camera. i would run with the lens & body separated, in my pockets.

is this true or just a bullshit myth? any experience or tips appreciated, thanks!

I feel like it would do something, but perhaps using a bag would help. I always bring a bag when I ride my bike, but thats easier than running. I wouldn't be comfortable bringing my camera in my pockets anywhere.

Just walk that day. Your run will suck if you're trying to carry a DSLR and you don't want to risk fucking with it if it falls or drops or you fall, etc.

• i don't want to walk 20km, it's mainly about the running
• it isn't at risk of falling out because i have zip pockets

get a small bag, run with a backpack. have your camera sit around your lower back if you can. i ski with my camera in a bag all the time, its fine.

this. if you make it nice and tight it should not be just fine to run with, as long as its not bouncing around in the pack

i guess i'll use my backpack then, i wasn't really looking for tips how to take it - the only fanny pack i could use right now is 400km away with my brother anyway lol.

i was wondering if anyone could tell me if the camera might actually get damaged, although from what deezy said it doesn't seem a problem...

You didn't indicate it was 20km and it seemed that this trip could've been about the pictures. I'm sorry, must've interpreted it wrong.

Backpack is your best bet. If you have a small pack in which you can anchor it well, you're fine, especially if the backpack is tight against your body.
