I just got diagnosed with Mono. Does anyone who has had it before know when I can get back on the mountain safely? My doc said a month, but does anyone who has had experience with this know if it can be less? More? I really don't want to rush things and want to stay safe, but I just wanted to hear some opinions. Probably going to end up listening to my Dr. since she prob knows best.
I had mono for like 3 months last season. I didn't know it so I skied a lot and did everything I normally do. I was ridiculously tired skiing, and I thought I was just in bad shape so I started working out harder. I was pretty fucked up for a long time. Take it Easey man.
I had it a couple of years ago and i wasn't in school for 3 weeks then i got winded really easy once i got back. If you do go skiing try to stay away from the park or stay on boxes or whatever rails you know you won't fall on.
i had mono and went for opening day. i was pretty much dead after 2 runs. i'd say just take it easy, if you go just cruise and don't try anything too big cause you don't want to burst that spleen
Mono seems to be very person specific, I know people that barely took a break, and others that were pretty much fucked for half a year. Personally, when I had it, I felt like absolute death for about 2-3 weeks, and then really quite weak/easily tired for another 3 weeks after that. Just listen to your body, don't push it too hard, because it'll take that much longer to come back.
With the rupturing the spleen thing, I have no idea how long it takes to be safe, definitely listen to your doc over NS on that one.
Also if you want to send me your liver/blood test and by looking at your Elevated enzyme I can give you a better idea of how bad ou actually have it. It vets from person to person. The Worse it is the longer your out for.
