Backcaps of batteries - do you use 'em?

So,
I use the BP-511 battery and I have acquired a lot of 'em over time (I've had three different camera's: 20D, 40D and now a 5D and they all use the same battery) and also got a bunch of the backcaps. I always use them, but they piss me off; a lot. I'm not consistent enough to always put it on the right way so you can see if the battery is full or empty. Any disadvantages to not using them? Probably not right?

they have battery meters? or are you just talking about those annoying, hard to remove plastic things that cover the battery

The latter. Except for they're super easy to remove. Mine just fall off all the time. They're all over the place. Annoying!

Nah I never use them. I do sharpie a number on the bottom of all my batteries to keep track of them and which ones i've used etc

Yeah I don't really see why you'd need the caps.

This. I number em as well. Great way to be able to keep track of which ones are used and which ones are good

Might do this, at the moment I just keep them in separate pockets

I think this is what some people do with the caps, like cap the empty's. I know some people also just go internal to external jacket pocket, or left to right. Whatever works really. But if you aren't using the caps for that, and they are falling off, it sounds like you might as well ditch them, or at least throw them in a bin so that if you sell you can have all the accessories, which some people are particular about
