Editing program for my HD Hero (must support mp.4)

Must be Freeware, something simple and easy to use, just want to edit some clips, cut out the useless bits, add soundtrack and as said before must support mp.4. I've tried Windows Movie Maker, Wax and they didn't support mp.4 and i've tried Aurora Video Editor but there was big red text covering the screen.

Just wanted to know what your suggestions and experiences were.
