School shooting in Atlanta

I think there were two people shot, and two apprehended. we all know how this can change, hopefully it doesnt worsen.

DEVELOPING -- Atlanta school officials confirm a shooting at Price Middle School in Georgia.
School officials say two people were wounded in the shooting. One 14-year-old victim was rushed to the hospital after being shot in the head, the Associated Press reports.
Police say they have two people in custody in connection with the shooting, according to MyFoxAtlanta.com.
The school was placed on lockdown and authorities say parents are not being allowed to pick up their children at this time. Price Middle School is located in southwest Atlanta.

Now hold up a minute. Was it an actual "school shooting" or just some type of gang retaliation etc...that info is going to be relevant to the rest of this thread

Literally people were just shot, and you're that concerned with the logistics of the situation? What defines an actual school shooting and why should I be more/less concerned with one scenario or another?

Definitely. School shootings or other public shooting are the majority of the time done to make some sort of statement. These shooting are 100 times worse than a gang related shooting and need to stop.

Gang related shooting happen every day and normally don't affect the public. They are nearly always in a sketchy place and the media couldn't care less about how some gang member got shot 4 times because he never paid for the crack that he was fronted or some shit.

Honestly, I don't care about what happens within gangs. They know what they're getting themselves into when they join them. Public shootings on the other hand... that's certainly an issue.

Suggesting gang violence doesn't effect the public is a wildly inaccurate and baseless claim. Too often innocent people are victims of stray bullets ect. And it's impossible to quantify the fear that people who live in gang ridden areas are subjected to on a daily basis or the negative economic impact felt on an area by scaring away people who can afford to leave.

I'm a resident of metro Atlanta and frequent the downtown area and have worked in communities where gang violence is a real problem. There are real, innocent, people who are victims of gang violence everyday. I urge you to not ignore or disregard this type of behavior.

Also, not to make light of the situation if this is a "legitimate school shooting" but over the past ten years I have spent literally zero minuets of my life in an elementary school, but quite a significant amount in gang occupied areas. Should I not care about violence in public schools because it doesn't effect me?

You really can't figure that out? When something tragic happens usually the news is wrong on basically everything. The story was released for like 20 minutes when I posted it. I was hoping no more people were found wounded or killed. They first reported 9/11 as an accident.

If this is a gang shooting, well shit happens. Anyone from a city like that understands that there's really nothing you can do about that. If its just a school shooting, I blame the media. If they didn't drag on the whole newtown incident and gun control so damn much, it would give inspiration to copy cats.

this just in: people are shot at schools all the time all over the world including places like LA
if you get out of the suburbs more often you notice these things outside of what CNN covers.
