So I broke my knee at keystone last week trying a 2 onto a down rail, got the surgery and brace to heal my knee and was wondering if anyone has had this experience before, oh and by broken knee I meant that I broke my knee cap in half
Can you describe the feeling for me? I had a knee cap injury 10 days ago and still can't ski. Landed directly on my knees on solid ice after attempting a backflip and underrotating.
First two days I couldn't bend my knees as all. Incredibly painful and tender to the touch. I was able to play basketball last night but I'm still worried about skiing. The pain is most noticeable right above the knee cap. I'm thinking it could be a cartilage issue or deep bone bruise but I just want to get back on the slopes already!
you definitely didnt break your knee cap if you were able to bend it a week later, definitely bad bruise or may have partial tear in your quad tendon, I cant even lift my leg straight up so to be safe just have an orthopedist look at it sometime soon, hope this helps
I caught my edge on a rail today and landed on solid ice with my kneed its swollen and starting to bruise on the side.. Good luck with your recovery, injured knees are the worst.
almost did the same thing on christmas break. nose pressing this really long flat rail and my edge just caught suddenly, slammed my knee just below the patella then taco'd the rest of the rail. got a little bruised but I thought I was pretty lucky
then 2 weeks later I tore my acl and mcl and realized my luck had run out
It's a rough one man, just saw a similar thread in nsg https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/731931/ and posted some info. basically check this site out its got a ton of good info: http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/ Good luck!
My brother broke his knee cap in multiple places and it was the day after he got his cast off for breaking his arm and he went two weeks walking on it and shit before telling my mom because he didn't want her all pissed.
So little update for anyone that was wondering, I went to the the doctor today and im done with the no bend brace, I started walking with a limp for like 20 minutes and by the end of the appointment i was almost sitting normally, my doctor also said that i'll be making a 100% recovery due to the fact that i split it so cleanly, also ill be skiing next season which is a pro for me :), and finally big shout out to LJ for that site, it gave me the info and inspiration i need to get through the initial recovery and hopefully the 2 months of physical therapy ahead.
Hey, sorry to bump an old thread but I didnt want to make a new one, it has been like 6 months since I split my knee in 2, since then i got to do physical therapy for 5 weeks, then we decided with my doctor i could continue by myself, now i have full bend, I can sort of run again, and kinda jump, hopefully ill be good to go by december :), anyone else in the same boat?
I broke part of my kneecap at keystone this season too. I kinda taco'd on the new z rail and i hit my knee right on the end. i didn't go to a doctor for 2 weeks or so, then he told me that I broke it. Luckily i did not have to get surgery unless it bothered me later on.
