Why do you call ham bacon? 

I know what bacon is, and that's not it.  Is there a national conspiracy to church up all the lackluster meat products or what???  Is an Alfa Romeo a Canadian Ferrari?  Is a solid 7 a Canadian 10?? 

I am honestly confused.  Please help me make sense of this.  It's always been a question in my mind, and I would appreciate your input.

We have ham too. Ham, back bacon and normal (side?) bacon are three distinct, albeit delicious, entities. That said I've never asked for bacon and gotten back bacon, just normal bacon.

Either way I like bacon better than back bacon or ham for that matter. Especially with some maple syrup residue left over from them pancakes.

I have always been super lost about it as well, and totally disappointed when I'm told "Oh yeah, we have canadian bacon"

I was curious if this is also up there of if it's just those sneaky petes trying to upcharge us for "imported and exotic" snake oil meat products haha

It makes me wonder what russian bacon would be though.

Real Canadian Peameal bacon is cut from the boneless loin of pork, fat is trimmed to 1/8 inch and sweet pickle cured the product was rolled in crushed/ground yellow peas to preserve freshness. No smoke used. Canadian bacon sold in the USA on the other hand is plain old lean back bacon sometimes with a coating of cornmeal. Normal bacon is cut from the belly of the hog, smoked and thin sliced.

Ya no idea what you guys call Canadian bacon, but when I got bacon in the states, it looked the same just tastes shittier. Our tens are American 12s. An Alfa Romeo is an Italian Alfa Romeo, which is a car not sold in Canada. Why do Americans know next to nothing about their closest neighbor, ally, and trade partner?

I think this is an excellent question. 

But I heard it's cold up there, which is more than enough to keep 90% of complaining 'mericans away by itself. 

I still wonder why they call it canadian bacon here though.  Hmmm...  Apparently it isn't canadians' fault though, judging from the bacon rage I've seen so far.  Glad to see you canadians take this bacon nomenclature stuff seriously too.

Okay, now that I got that out, yes, I think Americans need to know more about us. I don't think they are dumb for not knowing, I blame an overly patriotic educational system for that. Second, I went to America. No complaints. But I am biased to still like Canada and all it stands for more.

Actually it is you Americans who fucked it up. Australia bacon is the equivalent of 'Canadian bacon' it is seemly hard to t American bacon or what we call streaky bacon

Pemeal Bacon is a special type of ham with cornmeal around it. (As per the first post)
Ham is ham.
Bacon is bacon.


Why are you making it complicated? It's easy!

so canadians have two types of bacon. Regular and back. Us sophisticated mericans have two types of bacon, regular and canadian. Clearly murca was not graced with delicousness of "back bacon" until or brother to the north introduced it to us.

At that point our ancestors said "damn, this shits good but its got such a stupid name. I know, rather than call it 'back bacon' like a retard we will call it canadian bacon thus mocking the savages to the north."
