Billy Goats are great all over the place, they ski better and better as the snow gets softer and deeper. Better than other really big skis for tighter trees and lines because of the RES shape (reverse elliptical sidecut in the tips, traditional in the tail). They like to ski fast.

Someone else will have to chime in on weight, I'm not certain. However I'll be able to pull it up for you a little later.

I don't think you will be disappointed in the least if you snag some billy goats.  I've got last years regular set up but I'm still able to tour on them no problem.  A bit more work on the way up is worth it in my opinion, because they are the sickest skis ever on the way down.  The comment before about them wanting to go fast is true!  They rip in every condition from crud to deep powder to tight tree lines and are more then stable enough on cat tracks and groomers.  I now use my Jeffreys for anything from groomer days to 3-4 inches new, but you would have no problem using the BG as an everyday any condition ski.

I ski the 191 wherever and whenever I can. Days I'm not skiing Billygoats are days that I wish I was on Billygoats. There is a LT of discussion about the current Billygoat on TGR too.

Super fun skis, kill it all around the mountain! I love how stable mine are when hitting some mellow airs in the morning or busting through crud later on.

I love mine. They are sick skis and super maneuverable. Super stable landings and no dive at all, even if you are leaning completely forward and grabbing your tips.

Only complaint is that when attempting to carve them the outside ski sometimes drifts out, but that is not a big concern. These are pow skis, not slalom gatebusters.

Buy them nao. Buy all of them.

i've skied my old 186's in all conditions in all different places and they're awesome. super super fun skis that are easy to throw around but also stable at higher speeds. they're the perfect all around soft snow ski for someone who isn't skiing ridiculously deep snow and who isn't making massive turns through open bowls, though they do that well if you want them to.

the only area in which they fall short is carving on groomers, but why would you need them to be good at that? also the newer models are better on hardpack than mine since the originals had more of a pin tail

my next ski purchase will most likely be a pair of 191 tours

I ski the 191's anytime it's soft. And sometimes when it's not. It's probably one of the better directional soft snow ski's out there. It charges hard, but is easily shut down, and super turny when you want it to be. It really bridges the gap between big mountain charger, and nimble pow ski. These ski's have no speed limit, and destroy crud like it's not even there.

Newest generation BG is superior in every way.

I have skied my 191 BGs pretty much everyday I've been skiing this year (closing in on 70 days now I think), and there's not a single day that I have been really wishing for a different ski.

Pow, chop, crud, hardpack, ice, you name it, the bgs kill it. The edgegrip on ice is kinda lacking right now, but that's mostly cause my edges are really beat up thanks to all the rocks on the ridge-traverses her at kicking horse. And it's never gonna grip ice like a gs-ski anyways.

I've even done a bunch of full-day tours in rogers pass on them (guardians and krypton pros, lightweight touring setup eh? :P )

186cm unless you are really light or ski only tight trees.

Curious for you guys, but why don't you make a 181 BG? I feel like that would be a very popular size for a large portion of the market.

I'm 5'10'' and I got the 186. Solid choice. Maybe consider the BG 186 tour if your concerned about weight.
Also the Steeple 112 is just a thinner BG and comes in a 184. Could be a alternative.

I'd set you on a 176 unless you have a special consideration or intended use.

not many specific worries other than i do find myself in the tight trees from time to time (between VT and general trekking in CO). more wondering about the ride of the ski. do you happen to know the effective base length?

The changes in turn radius might be more appropriate to know, but the 191 has a longer base length (and rocker if I'm remembering correctly) than the 186. The two sizes are daily proportional in most aspects, but the 191's tail is definitely more built for speed and charging, whereas the increased turn radius in the 186's tail steers it and gets it to hook up a little more in trees and right spots.

I (5'10 and 170lb) went with a 191 tour (189 steeple) as a big day ski and touring rig - I would have switched to the 186 if I didn't have wide open tour access cascade faces in mind and wanted a multipurpose resort soft snow ski. At your height, running the 191 would be considerably easier - also, why not a 189 Steeple considering your intended use?
