Nordica Dead Money review?? +k

so i was at my local shop today and i was looking at the Nordica dead moneys! and they look like a solid ski and there really light!

so im just wondering what kids have to say about them if you ride them now or rode them in the past?

Nordica does a really great job at making there skis poppy and the top sheets are made of vinyl so they dont chip easily. Personally Id wait until next season to get them. Nordica revamped there line over the winter and next years stuff looks much better.

Riding a pair now, and I cant be happier. Only complaint I have is that the edges are a little thin, and I have a good amount of edge cracks after about 10-15 days of park. I do go hard on rails and do a lot of impact tricks tho.

Go for em! You can cop a pair of their old 10/11's for around 250 online too

I had the '10 models for 3 seasons and idk how much they have changed since then but I can say that they were a lot of fun and very soft, poppy and they don't carve great but are very good in the park

well I have tried the best skis from all of the top brands (ar7,chronic,suspecct,wall, etc) and I am going out and saying that I think this is the best park ski ever. It is super poppy cuz of the metal, but still fairly light on your feet for how hefty the ski itself is. The weight might turn you off, but they perform amazingly. Nordica doesnt make them $750 for nothing. It is 100% worth it, (but if you can find a deal, I would do that). and think of it this way; do you ever see gapers on AoS? no there is a reason for that. I have not had the chance to try the punx, but I am getting a pair next year. I heard the two skis were comparable.

im not really interested in the AoS becuase im really interested in next years OMW and if the Aos is awesome im sure the OMW will be... one more question thou i know the skis are really really durable with the viynl topsheet and eveything buthow durable are the edges? thats my biggest question .. are they strong edges or no?

well considering how I wore down my edges in a month to the point of not having edges, these are holding up fantastically! just detune them a little more than normal skis, because I didnt do much of a detune and they are hooky for unnatural foot grinds and the natural foot edges have folded a little. dont allow this to happen, if you make sure that doesnt happen, then you will be fine, so detune them more than normal skis because edges are really nice quality, dont ski over rocks with them cuz base is rather poor durablity (but not rials/boxes)

Yeah I will deffinetly de-tune them! And I talked to Evan Williams and he explained alot and there really durable skis and there awesome the OMWs can't wait to get a pair next year

I just picked up the Dead Moneys. I love them so far. I came off a Rossi S4 to these and these are softer than the rossi but still handle extremely well carving and charging down the mountain. In the park, they are super light and turn easy. I had to get use to how poppy they are compared to the s4s. Im a big fan and for the $149 i spent on them, totally worth it. I opted for these over the AOS because these did not have metal in them. I felt that the AOS was too stiff for the everyday park rider. The Dead Money is not a symmetrical twin so it works well outside of park.

yeah i heard it carves well! ill be getting next years OMW (dead moneys) im pretty pumped... most of the nordica team rides the OMW and not the AoS so that says something! and there really durable i heard so thats a plus aswell... how are they in the park like rails and jumps?

they are great in the park and super responsive. i have them center mounted so the swing weight is distributed evenly. Fresh edges on rails sucked the first few times, but now that they are dulled down i can move around nicely on rails. Off jumps i had to get use to the softer tails than my rossi skis. Carving off jumps had more pop than i was use to. The vertical sidewall is great for rippin groomers and they are definitely stable at high speeds. The "slight" rocker in the ski is really unnoticeable. I really wouldnt even call them rockered. They are however, flat under foot with no camber so you get on edge quickly and efficiently.

what year dead moneys do you have? becuase this years and next years dont have any rocker they have a ton of  traditional camber with there pop camber they call it.. and I know the top sheets are strong as shit but how are the edges durabiilty? do they seem like good solid edges? and yeah i would be getting them true center mounted because im in the park 98% of the time! and awesome they sound perfect a awesome rail ski thats really solid on jumps

2012s and they do have rocker. they call it Cam Rock. and its in the tip and tail..although it is not noticeable. most people confuse "rocker" with just pow/all mountain skis. Thing is, most skis have rocker now a days, even if it is just a few mm more than the standard tip and tail rise.

ohh shit i didnt know that.. thats awesome i like skis with alittle rocker so the swtich ups and surface swaps with be alot less catchy! that makes me want the ski even more! so everything about the ski seems perfect! just how are the edges on the ski? are they durable?

i havent had them long enough to know how durable they are. edges seem to be 2mm versus the standard 1.7mm. If you hike rails all day at your mountain, any ski will not last. but for half a dozen park runs through in a day, you should be fine. Thats what i do mostly.

yeah im in the park 98% of the time hiking rails and hitting the park every run lol and yeah i know every park ski will get cracked edges and get messsed up after hitting rails 6-8 hours a day... now i just gotta choose the chronics or the OMWs for next year

the difference is that the Nordica edges are insanely high quality, so even if they are thinner, you will not have a problem.

Nordica is doing big things these days, I've had the AoS boot for my third season now, and its amazing. Anyways, I also had the ski back during 10-11 and partially last season, and man did it hold up well. No edgecracks nor any sidewall damage, they were a great ski. You won't regret the OMW if that's what you pick!

yeah the OMW is what im leaning towards! and thanks to the both of you 10/10 karma... yeah there skis in general seem to be really good quality and the edges seem to be really strong and quality wise (awesome) but im going to my shop tomarrow to talk to the guy and see what he says
