Hi all, I just got back from doing some resort cruising at Big Sky with friends, and since there was no powder and they were not interested in park, I spent most of my time on groomers really trying to improve my fundamentals.
One thing I noticed was that my default stance is kind of wide. When I'm carving or laying down big turns my skis are very close together and parallel. But when I'm on a cat track or just want to bomb through some flat areas I look down and see that my feet are about shoulder width apart. Then they are hitting different terrain and I feel like they're working independently. When I try to bring them together so that they are hitting the same conditions, I feel like I have a more stable platform, but I feel like I'm putting pressure on my knees and standing knock-kneed and it's more tiring.
So, is this a technique problem? If it feels natural is it a problem at all? And, would changing the cuff alignment help me bring my feet together without feeling like I'm forcing it?
