I was thinking the same thing. Both are my favorites, and To be honest I voted for Wallnuts buthonestly TWall didn't even qualify for Slopestyle or big air. EDollo did for both and got gold for big air and silver for Slopestyle. TWall can't throw triples. EDollo can. TWall can't butter dub/ triple. EDollo can.

This past season no because TW killed it by winning xgames and a few dew tour stops not to mention some pretty sick parts in sunny when all harlaut did last year was make education of style. This year it looks like harlaut would be on top because he just made podium in 2 xgames events and also got bronze in two dew tour events at the same stop. He also has pro model skis and boots coming out and should probably exspect a movie segment this year. Unless someone else pulls something out of their ass i see him winning in the future.

No, Tom Wallisch earned skier of the year for this past year, Henrik is killing it this year. Wallisch earned SOTY rightfully and Henrik will have a good chance at it next year.

And TW has thrown triples, just not in competition. And buttering isn't really his thing for the most part.. Does that really matter?

No. I bet E-Dollo will win it this year, but considering the skier of the year you are referring to is last year, Wallisch rightfully won by a large amount. Personally I like Wallisch mre than Harlaut, and I'm super pissed he didnt qualify slopestyle, but this year for the 2012/2013 season Harlaut will probably win

Okay then I will. So much of what  RealBMiller said is inaccurate pr misleading.

1st of all,Tom had a torn MCL in slope elims,and shouldn't even have competing really, so dissing him for not making finals is stupid. I applaud him for putting down a run with a compromised knee. Secondly, Tom wisely opted out of Big Air due to his bum knee, so it's not that he didn't make finals, he didn't compete. 3rd. Tom has thrown a triple, and if he were 100% who knows what he would have thrown in Big Air. None of us expected Henrik to throw one either.For all we know that was his 1st. 

Okay so I guess Henrik should have won SOTY 2012 because we should have seen into the future and known he was going to throw a butter dub triple in 2013

Henrik had nothing short of a career year this. IMO he deserves it. Off the top of my head. He had a boot, suit, and skis come out with his name on it on top of awesome finishings landing groundbreaking tricks in both dew tour and x games all while filming edits all around the US with inspired tour. He definitely put the effort in this year.

def no hate on tom at all he was compromised this x game, ( pretty fucking obvious if you have ears or eyes ) . i simply think that comparing the two is stupid, but if someone makes a thread about it , i may give my 2 cents and thats what i did. sure we have no idea what wally would have had for big air, but he was injured so who cares, the reason i said HH owns for skier of the year this upcoming year, is because the tricks he does, to be completely honest, no one can even touch, and his butters snowbowders even think are some of the most redic things ever. i was not talking about this year i was talking bout this upcoming year so my bad, i just believe that with all the BC stuff HH hit last year for EOS, and earning best natural hit etc as well as the coveted award haha, that hed be in the strong running this year for sures. i mean 2 medals at x, full redic movie part in EOS that was unreal, tricks ONLY he can do, ( skiing or snowboarding ), and he slays BC kickers like no ones business ( dub 790 of a huge nautral hip anyone???) , so maybe i went full retard from your standard , haha from my standard HH just kicks ass , and has sooooo many accolades to back it up.
and so does wally, could go on and on bout him too, i was just confused because i thought this original thread was about who was going to take it next year and i think that with all HH been doing recent past and in future i think it guna be him last year. sorry i went full retard on you guys, i did go full retard when i saw that butter triple tho

Half done? heck its not even a freaking month done. Of course it's way too early to choose skier of the year for 2013, but obviously right now Henrik has got to be in the lead. Not that that really means much right now, its frickin' january.

im talking about this upcoming season, im not sure if city big airs count for next year or this year. and tom didnt even have a big part in sunny. he had a quality part but nothing compared to henriks education of style part. that was pretty next level

SOTY is an absolute joke. There are way too many types and styles in skiing to choose ONE skier to be "skier of the year". I think its hilarious how people spend their time arguing about it.

I'm not a huge fan of TEOS in general, but regardless of film tastes tom absolutely dominated slopestyle last year. The only event he lost that I can think of off of the top of my head was the last stop of dew last year, in which he still placed 2nd.

And Casey I agree, however there are plenty of awards that recognize the individual types of skiers- medals/podium finishes for comp skiers, IF3 awards for filming/webisodes, the only thing that's missing is some kind of recognition for urban skiers, but it seems kind of impossible to think of a way to give awards for something like that. I don't think anyone really cares about "awards" for urban anyways, it's all about just going out and having fun. Regardless the point I'm trying to make is that the many different types of skiers each have their own kind of recognition, while SOTY is meant as a cumulative award where the fans can choose who's had the greatest impact on the freeski community over the course of a year.
