yeah I thought that was pretty messed up. I mean they obviously didn't realize the severity of the situation inside or something, but still-- it's really sad that many of the deaths could have been prevented if there was an exit available.
Also--when are bands going to stop using pyrotechnics on stage-- they've caused quite a few fires. I couldn't quite tell from the article but it sounds like the band thought they'd play with flares on stage or something?
All this makes me think about is when I went to Coco Bongo in Playa Del Carmen last month, and it was SO packed-- probably 2-3000 people at least. You couldnt move, and the multiple levels/stairs in the club made it even more difficult to move. If a fire had broken out in that club, we all would have died. I just never thought about that at the time.
