Hey, searchbared this and nothing came up, I have seen several companies that offer bamboo poles such as panda poles. I would like to try making some for myself and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this, right now my biggest problem is obtaining the right kind of bamboo in the right width. Any input would be super appreciated and +K'd Thanks
you can buy both bamboo shoots and seeds to grow your own online. i would think attaching a tip would be pretty tricky too, but if you are successful take pics and post up some instructions.
I'd do bmx grips like Line's pointy sticks and I can get baskets and points for about 15$, I actually joined the newschoolers of bamboo growers, some massive forum site, to do research on this and they are being really helpful.
Hey, so back with an update. I actually found bamboo ski poles at a yard sale. I cut them down and threw bike grips on a pair. The pair I found are really old cross country poles so they have huge powder baskets and were super long. Right now I have about ten days on a pair, skiing them in every condition. I have taken some bad spills on them and they are still going strong, super light and all the old guys on the lift think they're rad. Sorry, no advice on growing bamboo but if you can snag a retro pair I highly recommend trying them out.
