It doesn't change the fact that Henrik is an absolute goon who is probably the worst person to put as the face of our sport. Skiing with goggles on backwards? Screaming about 2Pac/Biggie/ODB?!?!?! Thank the fucking lord ESPN did not give him an interview.
Don't get me wrong, it was a sick trick, I just wish someone else threw it.

You honestly don't get it...

He's been stoked EVERY year he's done big air, even all the years he's been shafted because the judges don't know what they are looking at. Then there's all the other skiers that are pissed off because the snow is slow, there's cameras in their faces, they didn't land their trick.

Comp skiing is dumb. Everyone is too serious, people ski like robots... it all looks like the same shit over and over again. People don't know the difference between triple corks, triple flips, 1260s or 1800s because it all looks the same and it's the same grab, and the judges are just jacking each other off with "Think we'll see a triple? OHHHH look at that triple cork, triple corks are so fucking cool!!!"

Henrik Harlaut just skied into a giant jump, at night, without goggles, while it's snowing. He did a NOSE BUTTER off the fucking icy lip, probably going upwards of 50 mph, did a triple that ACTUALLY LOOKED DOPE, and put it to his feet. Then, instead of complaining about how he didn't stomp it perfectly, he threw up his arms with a huge smile on his face, made some jokes. Got the fans into it. He didn't even have to do that trip... he had the win in the bag before that happened... did it anyways just because it was cool, and then showed everyone what real style was with that 7 at the end.

I don't know about you, but someone having FUN is EXACTLY who I want representing this sport, especially at comp so visible to the general public / non skiers.

I AM stoked on the trick, how he is progressing the sport, the insane difficulty to the trick, and his stoke for the sport/smile on his face.

BUT where you go wrong is by saying he "made some jokes and got the fans into it." You think he was joking when he was shouting out to rappers? That's the problem with NS, you guys all say he's just "joking and having fun" in order to cover up the harsh truth that he really does have this false perception of himself which creates an obnoxious image.

I love the kids stoke, I love his talent. ALL I AM SAYING is that the whole "gangsta" thing is a little over the top. I can't believe its so hard for you people to just come out and admit it.

Why are you so worried about who is the "face" of skiing? I could care less if freeskiing gets tons of hype from the general public and if people are turned away from the sport by a goofy swedish guy that is stoked on skiing than I don't think we really need them as part of the freeskiing community,

You think he mentioned those three specifically because he really feels like he needed to thank them? really? Do you think that he has a legitimate perception of himself as some sort of rapper from NY? And do you think you have any authority to even make that statement and present it as a fact and not an opinion?

And, even if he is being serious - So what? That totally has no bearing on everything else that was awesome about tonight and what happened.

What I don't get is how you can seriously try and make the argument that he is "probably the worst person to put as the face of our sport." Because that's just not true by a long shot.

I truly don't mean to come off as a dick (although I know I did in the first post, i'm sorry about that) but I'm definitely down to explain why I'm STOKED he was presented as the king of big air to the masses tonight.

Today I witnessed the coolest and best thing I have in my life and it was edollo's tripple. No it wans't just a trick. It was everything that twoods has explained. The real beauty behind what he has accomplished. I am forever grateful and stoked for Henrik and our sport. Haters are either jelly, confused, or misinformed.

People are saying those triples are what will kill our sport. But I think its people like OP, who shun the more interesting characters in skiing. You want people to think we are all like Bobby Brown (no hate, he is legit). Besides, they saw all kinds of skiers tonight. If anything, tonight showed how all sides of skiing can throw down, and have one hell of a competition. And that it isn't just the comp focused guys who can throw down. Also; that the judges did a pretty good job tonight.

You're a pretentious, judgmental fuck. Henrik is one of the hardest working, most determined skiers in the game. Why the hell do you care so much about his interests?

Henrik has more personality, and a more positive attitude than any skier I can think of. How the hell does he have a "false perception of himself"? And why is it such a big deal to you that he is a fan of rap music?

Unlike you, 99% of people judge Henriks "image" upon his positive attitude, hard work, dedication to freestyle skiing, and undeniable talent.

I would say 8/10 people on this site listen to either biggie, 2pac, and wu tang. It has become part of skiing's culture, so why wouldn't he make a couple shout outs?

Also, at the same time, you better be shitting on tomwallisch for throwin up the wu tang sign when he wins comps too.

Also, in your shitting on of exellence, don't forget about 4bi9 house, where they get absolutely shitfaced every night then wake up to ski, and also max hill for chugging beer out of a shoe.

I personally like being part of a different culture as a skier, and I don't see who wouldn't, if you're so worried about your public image as a skier, leave the site and start racing

I love skiing, but this post reinforces how much I can't stand skiers. Your ignorant, hypocritical, and vulgar response to the OP just demonstrates how much this sport has to grow up or we will destroy it from the inside out. You guys love Henrik's style but at the same time call guys like Bobby and Elias jocks, which is something I really don't understand. You really think they have the same mentality as an Oklahoma football player? Give me a break. Elias' triple was so clean, it was a thing of beauty on its own. Same for Henrik's nose butter triple. It's all awesome stuff and you all need to pull your pretentious heads from your asses and embrace it all, as the fun loving skiing loving people you claim to be and admire. You wanna talk about jocks in our sport? Jocks are all about hating and mocking others who don't see the world as they do. Don't hate the OP for voicing his opinion and don't hate on other skiers who don't have Henrik's style.

This guy wins. Just because you think henrik is great doesn't mean bobby brown only skis for the money and fame. He obviously loves what he's doing. All the guys that competed tonight are fucking badass, they all killed it, and every one of them would make a great face for our sport. Henriks triple was awesome. His dubs were awesome as well, and let's not forget the sick dub 7 he did, that didn't even get recognized. He's been skiing tiny hills on the east coast for one and a half months leading up to X, giving stoke back to the fans. As Jacob Wester said, he's the best person to represent our country and this sport to the mainstream public.

Also, did he give shout outs to Biggie, Pac and ODB? When? All I heard was "Thank you CR and Sarah".

I'm not crazy about callouts to Wu Tang and shit, but that doesn't matter. His vibe and love for skiing is explosive unlike any other skier i've seen. In the end that's what matters

4bi9 house is sick. Id love to ride/party with those guys i bet they have an awesome fucking time doing both. My friends and i drink the night before riding and wake up hungover as fuck and most of the time still make it skiing.

Fuck man the dude stomped a sick couple of hits who the fuck are you to judge him for what he said to the espn camera crews after? The mans got personality and thats what makes him the talented rider he is...who else would think of even buttering a big air hit in the xgames and even before a tripple?
