Haha, oh wow.  It's always funny to read NS forums. I suspect that I've already alienated almost every single person that posted in this forum, but just in case anyone is still on the fence, I will defend myself.

The problem with ESPN running the biggest event in our sport is that their intended audience is not you guys (freeskiers), their intended audience is everyday people who flipped to the X Games at the time that they would normally be watching basketball.  That means that they look for responses like mine and feed off of them.  Any time that a rider says anything that remotely describes or simplifies freeskiing for the masses is, in the producers eyes, perfect material. That is why they posted this answer instead of the various other answers where I talked about how stoked I was on how everyone skied and the level of competition, how honored and lucky I felt to be hanging out and skiing with these guys, etc.

They also have habit of asking leading questions. Questions like: "Why do you think you won tonight?" I am a logical, strategic person, and I answered the question honestly. I did not intend to disrespect my competitors or sound arrogant.  X Games is a really fast paced and charged event.  It is also the biggest event of the year for us, so it is hard to stay level headed during the madness when it is all over. It is easy to hate on what people say in the heat of the moment, and I will do my best to sound less douchy in the future.  I promise that I'm not the giant bag of dicks that you guys think I am, it was just one bad answer taken out of context.

this child won olympic pipe last night and did so very gracefully. you don't have to want to sign up to live your life the way he does, he's not hurting you, don't worry about what he's like and just appreciate that he's insanely good at skiing and none of the rest matters

I think its pretty dope that he has a wife and child, and has taken what he does seriously enough to provide for them. He isn't just some bro, hes a man on a mission and I respect that.
