Rules with a roommate

I guess mines on his man period, I was joking around with him like I always do and then he got mad and threw an apple at me, so I left to get food and came back and theres a hole in the wall and his hands bleeding. Im now sitting on NS in awkward silence.

-you're going to be sharing a fridge so make sure you guys split the space equally and make sure you dont eat each others food. establish an acceptable lights out time for week days and weekends.
-establish air conditioner and thermostat rules(find a room temperature you both can live with).
-get some headphones so your roommate doesnt have to hear your music.
-set rules for guests
-establish a do not enter sign in case you or your rm "have a girl over"(whacking it)
-if you see that the trash is full don't be lazy just take it out(I'm a total hypocrite for writing that)
-try to share as few things as possible(you'd be surprised how things that you view as unimportant right now can lead to awkwardness and sometimes conflict)
-respect each others privacy and belongings, of course

a lot of this along with additional stuff should be covered in the contract you sign with your rm.

No sex on your bed, dont fuck with your cereal, and dont be a dickass.

Just be real and say what's up, as long as you're not super uptight or he's super uptight you'll be ok

My roommate and i got along great. I went in to college a stoner (not anymore) and he was a ROTC guy on a full ride. Thought that would be a problem but it really wasn't and we had a great year. We respected each other and that's all you need. We're still good friends and we walk in a few months.

my roommate keeps to himself and doesn't give a fuck. he lets me have the occasional snapple and plays smash every once in a while. but i have a sneaking suspicion that he's gay. but it's chill. i'm on the top bunk so i don't have to worry about waking up to him masturbating over my sleeping form.

let him know when you wake up early. im all for a roommate banging bitches, but not when i work or have an important exam the next morning...

Both put your schedules on the door, so you know when the other has to get up early.
Be respectful of each others shit.
Work out who cleans what from the get go.
Keep your shit tidy.
Make a guest rule (How many at a time, what time can they stay until etc.).

however what I quoted is the biggest load of horse shit. Share everything you feel comfortable sharing. my room mate and I get along very well and we share pretty much everything.. drinks, silverwear/plates/cups, xboxes/games/controllers. I would start getting pissed off if I needed something like a cup or water bottle and my room mate got all territorial on me.
when it comes down to it, you are living together and theres plenty of time for you to get them back with whatever it is you borrow/take.
