What I said was true, also if you could read I said there are still some really sick acts on that lineup. I don't think somethings amazing so clearly I'm an asshole.
Go smoke a bowl and come back. I'd hate to camp next to you at a fest if you can't mellow out a bit.
hate to complain about the lineup but damn, i'm not hyped at all. so many bands that i used to listen to in middle school and don't anymore. imo so many dance sets last year was what separated coachella from something like bonnaroo. i'll still probably try to get tickets but if i don't i won't be too disappointed.
I guess phoenix is a lot bigger now and some of the other bands.
Seeing something like Rage on a lineup makes me go holy fuck a lot more than seeing them. I guess if I think about it they got a lot bigger but they were bottom of the bill a few years ago.
Still some solid bands to see each night. Def worth it if you're near the left coast.
OP needs to ratchet down his tension though.
I'll prolly never make it to one. Came close in 2011, was out in california but I was up in northern while this was going on and didn't make it down. Wish I had gone to one.
If I find a bunch of money I'd go regardless though.
Anyone know what the camping situation is? Are they still offering semi on site campping?
my bad for flipping a shit, just insanely stoked on the line up. tons of bands many others have seen that i haven't gotten a chance to (J5, RHCP, Modest, Band of Horses, Postal Service, Vampire Weekend, WU, ect) and that's what has me stoked. i couldn't care less about the EDM they have...i've seen basically everyone i want to in that genre with the exception of Daft which i knew wasn't going to be there.
Really? What about the countless festival threads I've made? Hell I even made one for that whomp fest in georgia that I randomly went to. Didn't even care about the music there but just went to have fun and had a great time.
I constantly look at lineups to try to plan my summer. If it doesn't look special to me I'll say it.
2. Well good for you, I said IMO. Hell phoenix played other places like bonnaroo 09 at the bottom of the lineup. To me some of those bands are way above what I feel they should be, they just aren't those headliners I look for. If you dig it good for you, go and have a good time.
3. Well that's too bad, drink some vodka and break stuff I guess.
that's my problem with all the rock and rap groups though. out of all the ones i would actually care about seeing, i've seen most of them at least once, if not 2 or 3 times. if it weren't for that i could see myself being more excited
I'm more stoked on widespread being back on tour and headlining a few fests. Summercamp>waka will be juicy.
It's sucks how shitty bonnaroo got as a fest in general because that was a good place to see some of the bands I wouldn't normally see as you were talking about. Had a similar weird blend like coachella. Most of the bands in the jamband scene I've seen a a few times or more. There are def those bands that I love that I just don't get a chance to see other places.
Sometimes they pop up though. Like ben folds playing fests last year? WUT. And I've seen a few of the bands from this lineup randomly at jam fests when they throw that curve ball band or two into the lineup.
It's a good line-up, but not super amazing like past years have been. I've been to lollapalooza as well and thought it was a much better event, better organized, better location, better weather.
Last year on the first weekend of Coachella it poured rain, and on the second weekend I think it hit 105.
My buddies and I go to Stagecoach every year though, other than the oppressive RV rules this year (we're staying in a condo at Mariott instead) it should be a great event.
Honestly, in every music-related thread you go on and on about how shitty electronic music is, then talk about how great your jam bands/jam scene/circa-2008 festival scene was, and its getting old.
You should try keeping your opinion to yourself sometimes, you are in fact not an authority on any type of music, and your love of jam bands and festivals makes you no different from the ravers and drug-centric dubstep culture you seem to hate so much. If you don't care about the music and you just go to have fun, why don't you simply shut the fuck up and enjoy it?
Lineup is pretty sick! Franz Ferdinand is releasing a new album this year...stoked for that!
Hate to be that guy who picks a band at the bottom of the list, but the Smith Westerns are amazing and I'm stoked that the are playing such a big festival!
RHCP, Wu Tang, Vampire weekend, Pretty Lights, The lumineers, The xx, Postal service, Phoenix, Two door cinema club, knife party, ben howard, 2 Chainz, danny brown, pusha T, dropkick murphys, Modest Mouse, J5, Monsters and men, metric, local natives, JAPANDROIDS, tnght, and Earl.
I'll take a thing from big spence and say go fuck yourself.
I went to fucking counterpoint and had a blast this year. Your post is invalid. Also went to camp bisco again, and had a blast.
Bonnaroo, was a decent festival, turned into a total bro scene and bust fest. If you like paying giant fines for smoking a bowl in your campsite or getting your pockets searched for walking around go ahead.
Some of the bigger festivals really did fall off. All good, another fest that got it's share of police sketchiness. Still plenty of great things about that fest.
There's a lot of great up and coming fests replacing some of the old. Hell counterpoint was brand new, similar size to older camp bisco's and same music, and it was great. Wasn't a fan of the music but it was a blast, well fun even great crowd.
"You should try keeping your opinion to yourself sometimes, you are in fact not an authority on any type of music, and your love of jam bands and festivals makes you no different from the ravers and drug-centric dubstep culture you seem to hate so much."
This is where your post really gets retarded. Yeah opinions of music are opinions of music, but you fail to miss what I don't like about the "rave" scene. If I post it so much maybe you should try reading it.
The rave scene has turned into a bunch of naive kids listening to edm and ingesting bathsalts. Hey lets go listen to skrillex and do a bunch of research chemicals. I bring a tester kit and help out other people. I spent a bunch of time out walking meeting people at counterpoint making sure people were safe and knew what they were doing.
"If you don't care about the music and you just go to have fun, why don't you simply shut the fuck up and enjoy it?"
Where was I even ranting about shitty music in this thread. Wasn't.
I'll keep going to shows and enjoying them. Maybe you'll grow up in a couple years and learn how to use the internet.
You've become quite the potato. Idk even know why I gave you a 4 am response. I should have just said LOL YOURE AN IDIOT and gone back upstairs, I guess I wanted my laundry to finish drying.
I get to fulfill a 15 year dream of seeing Blur live. I'm fucking stoked.
Other than that, would love to see the Violent Femmes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and I always love Modest Mouse. I think the lineup is equal to previous years, I think different people just like different music. I prefer this lineup to the last few years, but I know I have friends that think it's not as impressive. Different strokes.
I haven't had a job in almost 3 years b/c I sell tickets for profit. Supply and Demand.
Haven't done concerts though just sports. If I did something like a Phish show I'd feel like a dick selling for profit and in turn enjoying the lot scene and getting fucked up and partying and stuff. I'd probably just show up, sell, and go home. And I've always got tickets for face even when its been sold out up the ass for them.
I almost bought 40 tix to the WOrcestor show early in the summer last year last year cause I knew it would sell out but I held off. Would have been able to double my $ easily. WOuld have gotten MAD hated on by people though for doing it for every 1 person that sucked up and paid 120 there'd have been 10 people bitching at me for being an asshole and begging for tix at face.
