Im gonna start off with a stupid story. On Sunday I was trying a bunch of new tricks off of fairly large jumps and later in the day I take it easy and over shoot a jump doing a 540 and hyperextend my knee. Now I bruised some bones in my knee and cant ski for 6 weeks. Has anyone else this year had any long term injuries doing something fairly easy or stupid?
50/50 a flat to really steep down box, gapped the down purposely but with way too much speed. Landed in a set of natural rollers about 15 feet after the optimal landing area. Grade 1 MCL sprains in both knees, bruised heel, cracked brakes, 4 small years in left ACL. I didn't even get the shot either :(
That's what happens when you don't know when to stop, and it's a pretty typical occurence if you didn't grow up skiing or just never learned your limits. No matter how good you think you are, on the last run i dont recommend hitting features.
I haven't even strapped my snowboard on this season.
Tore my quad and fucked some other shit up. Fairly stupid? How's dancing at a phish show.
FTR they were destroyed as fuck from boosting shit to flat all the time snowboarding, but the final straw could have been something more epic in my opinion.
Oh well.
I go to the dudes tomorrow to find out how bad it is, what I need to do, and if I get to start a season ever
Hit this stupid little feature at Heavenly last season on spring break. Had video of the whole thing too. There was a solid 5 foot drop to solid ice on the other side. See ya later MCL.
i was break dancing at a party a couple years ago and slammed my knee pretty good into a hardwood floor. Of course i was drunk as shit so I didn't even care but now if i put too much pressure on it while kneeling it hurts like a bitch.
Just got some good news. My knee is old and worn out but still in good enough shape ish in the docs opinion. Also the tear has been healing decent so with some solid pt she thinks I could salvage my season.
OP, your story isnt stupid at all. Speed it a thing you get a custom to, so when you must hit something smaller, you tend to underestimate your speed.
Lucky, im a cautious person, and I always evaluate risk before any stunt... no matter how small. No injuries so far.
I fucked up my knee skiing before christmas and just got cleared to ski yesterday. Unfortuantly i got the flu and still havent been back skiing. It sucks.
I hurt my knee pretty good on Monday hucking a backie. Knee contusion/bone bruise. 7-14 day recovery time. I'll be back at it with knee pads in a jiffy.
i tore my acl, lateral and medial menisci in december. partially tore my acl probably 3 times last year though, goes to show if you hurt your knee, doesn't hurt to see a doctor early and possibly prevent further shit
