Anyone broken a mic input before?

I was filming up at Big Sky the other day and had my mic hooked up to the camera, and the cord going into the input on the camera body somehow got pulled, and broke the socket on the inside. I can put the mic into it but it goes in at an angle and is loose, levels are 0 on the screen. My main question is, has anyone tried fixing this without sending it in to Canon? It doesn't seem like it would be that hard. It looks like it would be a minimum of $189 to be repaired at Canon, and $129 at my local shop which really isn't that much better. If anyone has dealt with this before feel free to drop some info.
