Best Schools on the WUE?

If I want to get out of state it has to be something on this list, otherwise theres no way I can afford it.
I've already applied to a couple, any I should be looking at?

I know you sad no schools that weren't on the list but you should check out Regis University in Denver, CO. It's such a sick school with really good professors and its only an hour away from Breck, Keystone, Copper and Winter Park... Regis gives out a lot of financial aid and scholarship money too which is hella nice!

Its kind of all over the place. Right now I'm thinking like family practice doctor, so biology or pre-med of some sort. I had really wanted to do something for ecology but can't see making a living off it. In high school I thought I wanted to be an engineer but I realized I'm not really cut out for that.
I applied to Utah already. While the accessibility to skiing is unbeatable, coming from an already very conservative state, a change would be nice.

I would say any of the Cal State University schools on the list, but they are all still super impacted from years of cut classes due to budget cuts. CSUSB is super close to Mountain High and Bear, and not too far from mammoth. Sac State and Chico are nearish to Tahoe.

As for med school, you can apply from any major as long as you've completed the prereq classes (chem, ochem, bio, physics, stats, calc, and usually english, sometimes biochem and microbio depending on the school). As someone who was "stuck" in the pre-med trap, don't pursue it unless it's something you're going to go at 110%. You typically need great grades, volunteer experience, work experience, lab/research experience, and a good MCAT score to get in to medical school. You could totally turn ecology into a career if you try, "green" is still a huge growing industry that needs lots of ecologists and environmental sciences experts.

I'm on the wue at Arizona State University. Other good ones are Oregon and University of Arizona, this all depends on your area of interest.

I wouldn't recommend Sac State if you do t live near it already. It's a huge commuter school and doesn't seem to have a wholeee lot going on as far as non-school stuff despite the campus being wayyy sick.

My vote is for Boise State and Utah!

UNR has a great pre-med/med school. And pretty much all tahoe resorts are within like 2 hours of campus

^ 2 hours max. The skiing is great but make sure you visit Reno before committing, the campus is gorgeous buuut Reno is pretty shitty in parts lol.

Hahah yeah. Rose is like 25, and Kirkwood is the farthest at like 2 hours. All the others are like an hour for the big resorts. And campus is awesome, Reno is decent. Its cool when youre new to it but gets a little boring.

Nowhere near that bad for CSU. Grad within 6 (which is the common metric used in higher ed) CSU systemwide for 2005 (last year data is available) is 0.513 or 51%. Subgrouping out just "white" students, the number is 0.585 or 58.5%.

Things are getting better at CSU, prop 30 has really stopped the bleeding and should improve a lot of things.

Also doesn't the program only apply to certain areas of study? I know that my graduate school program (public health) was widely accepted at other institutions within the agreement, but that some others were not. Something for the OP to look into.

Colorado state or montana state if you want to ski, or U of Arizona if you want tons of fun. southern oregon is also a fun little school in a small town if your into that.

Also, it is not 3x cost to go to CalSU over Boise State, more like $7k for CSU vs. $6k for BSU.

Western Undergraduate Exchange. Certain state schools in western states offer students from other western states tuition at the in-state rate. Wue.wiche.edu

If you an engineering guy then UNR is the right place for you.

For me, it was not.

And yes, SNC is a lot of money but you get what you pay for, and you can cut your tuition in half by doing moderately well in school to earn scholarships.

Yeah, if I was going to do enviro or management, I would go there. I toured the campus and their enviro lab is the shit. Its awesome how close it is to Tahoe too. The campus is sick too, people always say the UNR has a pretty campus, but SNC has one of the best campuses probably on the west coast
