just got a big ticket, but....

but there wasn't a speed limit sign anywhere on the road. I was doing 44 in a 25. I thought the road was 35, so i was prepared for ticket, but not a 153 buck one. I drove back through and ther isn't a single speed limit sign on the road. wooo, im gona contest it.

unmarked paved roads are 55 around here. Unless it's a residential area. then it's 25.

it wasn't residential, turn off of a 35 mph road. I'm not too worried about it though.

Usually in towns there will be a sign that says 'Speed Limit 25 unless otherwise posted'. So make sure there aren't any of those in your town.

Randall is right, there is generally some local ordinance, or even state law, that determines the speed on unmarked roads. And chances are the court will hold you accountable for that kind of information.

Just came back from a rock climbing trip to the Western USA, got my self a 150 buck ticket, 100 in a 75.

Its all good though, I call it a high speed user fee.

Yeah, that's not even close to being a big ticket. Try almost getting fined $3000 and getting three days in jail for acting as someone's DD. Yeah, not fun. Got pulled over in a work zone in a town an hour from where I lived. I wasn't too familiar with the area (much less the speed limits) in the first place, not to mention the fact that they were doing huge construction work on the highway, so it was confusing as hell. Double fines, open container (the guy I was driving home drank and disposed of four beer cans in the back seat of my truck without my knowledge.. I was in the house at the time). Not fun. Now THAT would have been a bad day, but surprisingly, there are some decent pigs out there.

your not gonna win, i just went to court for the same thing. no speed limit signs anywhere from where i left to where i got pulled over. they said it didnt matter, its my responsibility to know the speed limit anyway. the DA didnt even wanna hear me try to argue it.

ya, my dad interpreted the ticket for me and it said If i lost I could be fined up to 1200 bucks. I'm just gona pay the 153.

dude heres a lil secret ive used b4, when u get to court say ur speedo was off. then bring oin a fake invoice from a buddy of urs shop about replacing a speedo cable. (newer cars don't have speedo cables but thye judges don't know that as i have used this trick b4) Be really nice to the judge by using 'Your honor', 'Sir' etc... and he should let u off with a warning. The judges are usually pretty cool about it and will not even think twice about the invoice. its the money shot and as ive said has bailed me out twice now. just gotta know somebody who owns/ works at a shop or steal a blank invoice froma shop

ya france is pretty crazy. the speed limit on curvy icy mountain roads is 130kph 80 mph and people arnt afriad to go that fast even if its super scetch

the town i live in i got a 200 ticket for going 45 in a 35, and the officer said that i would have have been fined a more if i she had not marked it down from 46(which i was suposidly doing). But the only way to get your ticket taken care of is to get a lawyer, its going cost the same as paying for the ticket and you don't pay them if they don't win!
