Installing OSX on Parallels - FS700 footage - Log and Transfer

Hi M&A,

I am having a couple problems with FCP, I still use FCP to log and transfer my shots, much more effective than the premiere alternative.

The problem with FS-700 is that the "PRIVATE" folders will not work properly on OSX Lion. Which means it cannot read FS-700 shots within Log and Transfer, thus giving it an "invalid directory" forcing me to either switch to prelude or put OSX Snow leopard on Parallels.

I have not figured out how to install Snow Leopard, I downloaded something, but it was not an ISO, and parallels only accepts ISO's.

Sorry if this thread is kind of cluster fucked and not explained the best, if you have any info to help me it would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend installing a parallel just to log and transfer, that seems messy and overkill. I've actually been searching for an Adobe or 3rd party alternative to FCP 7s log and transfer though, because I loved it too!

That being said, I'm not sure why FCP is not recognizing the folder structure. I successfully used log and transfer on mountain lion and it worked fine to my recollection...

For alternatives, I would suggest either batch transcode in Prelude and organize in Premiere Pro, or possibly MPEG Streamclip? Depending on your machine, you could also consider editing natively in Premiere Pro and then batch transcoding and reconnecting your timeline to the transcoded files later in your workflow.

With FS700 footage? Works fine with my 60d footage.

right click the private folder, show contents, do this until you have the 3 folders and click steam BOOM mts files

download clip wrap

transcode mts to prores

appears you just wanna use log and trasnfer, which is stupid. dont worry about the extra 2-3 seconds before and after shots you dont need to in and out everything and labeling in finder is very easy.
