Getting the "Fuck it and Huck it" Attitude More Often
I'm a pussy most of the time but sometimes I get the "fuck it and huck it" attitude and I start to progress really well. I don't get in this mood very often so I'd like some tips to achieve this mindset every time I'm at the mountain. +K for help.
You can ignore this. And instead just listen to music. Also if you ski with people who are better than you, you'll feel like a puss if you don't do the same tricks that they're all throwing so you'll just do it.
I think you just gotta psyche yourself up. If you find yourself doing the same tricks or same rails for more than one session, force yourself to mix it up and go a little harder.
I am by no means good and I hurt (but not injure) myself quite often but I find I make the most progress when I just accept that pain is temporary but comes with the sport if you want to progress.
Very few if any are so naturally good that they never fall. It just happens. Some people can accept the frustration/failure/pain more than others and I think you'll see those are the ones going bigger, harder, etc.
Just do it man. Dont even think. The first time i spun a big jump (50 foot) we were about to drop in and my buddy just yelled "spin it man" and i was like fuck it, i spun it and road off really stoked
whenever i drop into a rail or something and think "shit people are watching gotta look good" 9/10 times i slip out and look fucking stupid but if i just focus on sliding the whole thing and not on the people watching i do it perfectly
Loud bumping old school hip hop. If you smoke weed is clutch.
Also you gotta grow a pair and throw that first trick. If you stomp it you get the energy from being stoked, if to eat shit you get that raw primal fierce anger from the fall and go into onslaught mode.
Honestly a good hard fall is what get's me into that mode sometimes. I'll be hurting but just so pissed that I hike up and throw it again until I get the trick I want.
Ski with your friends. Tell them what you're gonna do, then just do it. If you tell them what you're gonna do, they're gonna encourage you to do it. And if you don't, you will just be a huge pussy.
This. If you are with your friends, pole tap them, tod walnuts prebang into the feature, throw the fuck down, ride away like a g. Probably one of the most satisfying thing ever.
Envision it! Work your way up to a trick if you can. Boost your adrenaline by sticking harder and harder tricks. Once, your ready for the big one, spend time on imagining what you are going to see and feel. When you feel that you know what you are doing, take a deep breath and enjoy the few seconds before its going to hurt (if you dont make it).
i know this sounds corny and you've probably heard it 1000 times but if you just don't think about what could go wrong and how sick it will look when you land the trick, it really helps
Wow I'm different than most people. Instead of getting all pumped up, I prefer to throw on some mellowed electronic/hip hop and get in the zone. Helps my focus more
MUSIC. Before I started listening to music my mind would wander and I'd think about all the what if's, hence be a pussy about everything. Once I threw the earbuds in I got the fuck it and huck it attitude. Progressed so rapidly once I started listening to music.
I find it easier to try stuff when I'm not at my home hill. I don't know why but I get more satisfaction out of impressing strangers than I do my friends
Risk management. If you know theres a 5% chance you'll survive don't do it. If theres a high probability you'll land somewhere on your feet, give'er. If you can picture the trick, send'er. In terms of getting that extra boost in confidence, listen to music, get your buddies to hype you up, there's always something to get you motivated.
