First T-bay is full of natives? Common, there are more blond haired blue eye folks in T-bay ( of finnish decent then natives).
My parents live in Geraldton, and i grew up in Kapuskasing. I also worked for a private flight service which brought natives in and out of reserves for a while.
I grew up around natives, and so im gonna throw some info on this thread full of ignorance ( well besides a few posts).
We murdered millions of them, took their land.....and those we didn't murder...... well we gave them diseases, raped their children, and tryed to eleminate their culture.
We are so in the wrong its not even funny. Most of the problems that modern canadian natives faces were caused by us. Socialy, economically, and culturaly.
Most modern reserves don't have many of the basic fundamentals that keep towns functioning. That means buildings that fall apart, no clean water, lack of educated teachers, outdate schools ( if they are lucky to have them), no hospitals. Basicly take any third world situation, and put it in canada. Now you have any northern reserve. Now add to that government corruption, Cheifs who steal, and fixed ideas about native people and you have a modern holocost.
What natives need is not more money.....they need programs, schools, jobs to break the cycle. The government needs to step up and take care of these people. We created the problem, we have to fix it.
Really, because I don't remember murdering or raping anyone. Funny. Must have been completely shitfaced when that happened I guess?
I think my main issue with this "movement" is that they have no issue, message or goal. If you ask the average INM protestor what the protest is about they will not be able to give you a coherent answer. It's exactly like Occupy. If the problem is with an Omnibus bill, cool, let's talk about what you think is wrong with that and how we can fix it. But instead it's just general protesting for the sake of protesting - and a lot of the people who are doing it are non-natives who were also big "Occupy" people and essentially protest as a hobby.
At one point they were talking about shutting down the road to Ft. McMurray, which would be interesting, because trying to stop a couple thousand rig pigs from getting home to their families sounds like a pretty good recipe for violence.
