So I took my GF skiing

It was her first time going. I know, I've read the warning threads; I've read how awful it is. But I took her anyways...

It was great. Maybe you guys need more patience, I'm not sure. We went up Saturday and the weather was great and the snow wasn't even all that great. It was warm, blue skies, and no wind. We went from the bunny hill to several blue runs in a day. On her second run she couldn't wipe the smile off her face. She was loving it. NS this is what skiing should be like, she couldn't stop talking about how great it was and how much fun she was having. All it took was me being patient, throwing her some tips, but really just letting her learn at her pace. She picked it up quick and we stayed still closing. Now she wants to go more, she wishes she had a season pass.

So NS if you want to have a GF that can ski, take your lady! Check to make sure it's going to be a nice sunny day and go up to the mountain. Any other NSers had a positive experience with their significant other on the slopes?

I get like 10 days on the mountain every year so excuse me for not trying to waste one teaching.





If I lived out west and had a season pass i'd have no problem doing so.

It took my girlfriend like 3 days to get the hang of it to the point where she could follow me through the park without me having to wait every 100 feet for her. Since then, it has been awesome. She fucking mobs down blacks now.

Thats rad!

I'm sure part of the stigma comes from the ladies themselves. If you've got a girl who doesn't like the cold or adventuring and is going to complain the whole time, it makes it pretty hard to have fun no matter how good she is.

Dope that yours was fun to be with, that sounds like a really awesome time. What a great way to spend time together outside!

People do lack patience but that really wasn't the point of the warnings. IT all depends on the girl and what happens. It can be a fucking nightmare trainwreck ticket to divorce court.


Glad it worked out and she had fun.

i took my gf skiing the first day was great but the second day she cried and acted like a little ripper roo kid.  i was pissed.

i took mine to the mountain 2 weeks ago. She works at a local bunny hill in the city as a lifty so she was a tad cocky about how she was going to "show me how its done" so it was epic when we got to the top of the mountain and she freaked out on a green run saying "how the fuck do people get down this!?".

After she got down the green runs a few times she started to get the hang of skiing a bit but still wouldnt really venture off the greens and admitted that she will not be "showing me how its done"

its not a bad deal once the jitters get worked out, we enjoyed our day and i couldnt help but laugh at the fact she thought green/blue runs were steep. We plan to go together once a month for the rest of the season.

I know someone who learned to snowboard while teaching their GF to ski, would probably solve the patience issue for a lot of people.

Taught my girlfriend how to ski last year, and we've been having a blast since! She picked it up really fast, and now it's just another fun thing that we try to do together whenever we can. Really nice.

it works alot better if you work with girlfriend in ski school. no time wasted teaching her.

I met my girlfriend when skiing in Aspen . Turns out she lives near me!! I ski at Seven Springs and she always tags along!!

my past two relationships were with women that did not ski....they wanted to learn, and were so easily discouraged with how easy it was for me, with out even thinking that i've been skiing for 16 years. Needless to say the next GF i'll have will either be a skier/boarder already or I'll just never teach them.

Taking my girl in 2 weeks, pretty hyped. My ex hated it, I really hope my current one will! Will def make sure to let her go at her own pace.
