So I kinda dicked the dog for a few months and now I'm fucked. I need 10 hours of community service and I have absolutely no time. I know I should have just done them but I need a way to fake those hours. Does anyone have a group or even a made up one I can use? The big problem is that they ask for a phone number and I am not sure if they will follow up or not. Any help for a fellow newschooler?
If it's for school they do not follow up, I suggest talking to friends who are in university groups like ski clubs and get them to sign off for hours for helping organizing the events. Or you can got to a family member or friend and ask them to say you volunteered for their company.
My school has this figured out, every senior is required to have 24 service hours to graduate, but there are tons of BS restrictions. There cannot be any money involved, ie. collecting money for a cancer fundraiser or something of the sort. And anything that involves gain for someone doesn't count, or any private organizations. I would already have my 24 hours twice over if it wasn't for these. They also hire someone who's only job is to count and follow up on students hours.
this, its not that hard. i volunteered to teach disabled kids how to ski and was able to finish like 40 hours doing that for half of a saturday for two months
i also got an instructor discount on a season pass, but that was a bonus i didnt tell my school about
i read this as "my school is making me be a nice person but im too cool to do all that shit". how about you help someone out and make a sacrifice, thats what community service is about.
Well shit I got 10 of the twenty hours and shit piled up. Trust me I feel like a dick that I didn't do the last ten for real but I need to pass the course, I only have five days to get these ten hours and I still need to study for the rest of my diplomas and work a few shifts. If I thought I could do the hours I would. Just not seeing when I will have the time
I got 20 community serivce hours for spray painting the side of a building lol. As for volunteering hours, my school requires 40 I have 104 so its all good. 10 is quick
I now have four days to get ten hours and I have to study for two tests worth 50 percent of both physics and chem that are on Thursday and Friday. The only way I will have time to get these hours by Friday is if I lose ten hours of useful studying for each test. I have some pretty high goals and that involves getting 100 on both tests. I'm asking for a few more days so that I can just do the hours because I am planning on score keeping some basketball games and helping coach. Again I know I sound like a dick but i am sorta in a situation here
That's fucked. What kind of school do you go to? I love volunteering but that's ridiculous. I feel like I'd run into a ton of problems if I went there.
i must sound gay saying this....but on friday nights on our mountain the city has this thing where you can volunteer for 4 hrs a night to ski with middleschoolers
easiest 4 hours of community service ever, u get hours to ski. Plus you don't need to teach them, you're just there to make sure they dont die haha.
I have maintained a 96.7% average through grades 10, 11, and so far 12. I've never gotten a question wrong on a math test in high school and the lowest science mark I've gotten is a 98 in chem 20. Plus I play varsity basketball and volleyball and work 3-5 shifts a week (claim?) sadly, I am not one of those people who can get good grades without studying so you can bet that I will use those ten hours to study for two finals that are in three days time. Makes the party afterwards that much better
I'm doing four years of mechanical engineering at the U of A because I can get a $50 000 scholarship from them and get it all paid for. Then I plan on moving to Michigan to major in automotive engineering. I want to design cars
Do you want to do exterior design? I know there are only a handful of art schools with transportation design programs. Art Center in Pasadena being one of them.
Say you volunteered for the United Blood services at a local blood drive. It's really hard for your school to follow up on because they generally have to go directly through the organization who really doesn't keep track of that shit.
I do enjoy the aesthetic aspect of cats but I really want to do the mechanical part. Chassis, engine, transmission. Figuring out new ways to get performance out of a car and still keep both weight and emissions down. My dream is to be an engineer in f1 but that kinda requires being in the right place at the right time with the right people. I'm still looking into schools though so I will definitely check it out
Don't give us the 'I have to study' bullshit. You've had all semester to do these hours. Lying about them is going to get you in more trouble than dropping a few marks in these exams. And if you'll lose your scholarship for not studying enough it's entirely your fault, you should have prioritised your time better. You've known all semester how many hours you had to get done, yet you've left half of them until the last week which you've known you had exams. Take some responsibility for your actions.
• chatting on NS won't get your hours done
• how is it possible to even get community hours in the first place
• just do them it can't be that hard to find 10 hours
My dad actually worked for the BMW F1 team back in the 80s when he was team liaison for Garrett Turbochargers. He still has a cut away model in our garage, the thing is HUGE.
Best of luck with that, it is difficult to break in to.
Go to any sort of homeless/animal shelter and explain your situation. I'm sure they would be glad to have your help for a few days. All you need to do is like 2 hours a day for 5 days working, it's so fucking easy and there really isn't a good excuse not to do it.
Well you people have changed me. I feel like a new person. I'm helping coach my old junior high basketball team so I just have to go to tere two hour practices this week. Thanks for the input though. Didn't mean to seem like that much a douche it just seemed like I hadn't the time. I hope one day we can all be friends
Btw that is one of the sickest things I've ever heard. I've heard that the 80s were the glory days in f1 engineering because you could draft something one day, buil it the next, ad then shave a second off your lap time the next. Too many rules and technology is too far to do that now. Plus the turbocharged f1 cars were completely nuts. If that spooled up half way around a corner I would shit my pants
