I broke my collar bone two weeks ago trying to dub flat. I was wondering who else has broken their's and how long it took to be back skiing again. Oh and I guess mine is technically fractured because it didnt break all the way through, it cracked a z shape.
i was out like 6 weeks before i could ski again, but when i came back it was just groomers. id say i was back to normal about 8-10 weeks after. i had a really bad break tho
mine fully snapped and they had to click it back into place to heal.. but all they could do was give me a sling as i didn't want a full torso cast.
but funnily enough, i had a full range of movement after 2 weeks or healing.. and i could get back to sport about 5 weeks after i regained full movement, as you need to give time for new bone to form around the breakage.
I broke my clavicle this summer downhilling, it took about 2 months before it felt good. Then a couple weeks after that i rebroke it skiing, which was a total bummer. It's been 6 weeks now and it's feeling like 75%, i've been skiing/skinning a lot the past couple weeks and i'm definitely pushing it. But for the most part i'm just keeping it chill trying not to do anything stupid.
Good luck though, once it feels good get after it just don't push it to hard! You're probably looking at 6-9 weeks tops till it feels real good again.
i should say, that even though i had full range of movement, the doctor advised that i keep in in a sling, just so it can fully heal without any problems.
had a clean break, and was back slowly skiing groomers in a little over 2 weeks. Every little bump was painful and holding and moving poles was agony. It was really stupid and careless to get back on skis that early, but i was just kind of putting around.
Think i started hitting park around week 6-7. I fell on it again, and came really close to sending me back to day 1. Be careful.
broke both of mine..1st one took about 5 weeks to heal to the point where i could use it for athletics..a.another few weeks till i could lift heavy again.
second time was the other collar bone. Broke it relatively bad average break nothing to serious but def not a minor fracture. My mom is really into natural medicine and all that crazy stuff she gave me this crazy chinese medicine some sort of homeopathic chinese crap (no idea what is is) and some how my colllar bone healed in like a week 95%. Was amazing. Would highly suggest looking into natural medicine to aid healing process
I broke mine Dec 13th of 2013. I have full range of motion but i don't have full strength.
I've sort of fucked up though, i got in some bar fights and went skiing a couple times which put alot of strain on it. I'm hoping in a week i'll be able to go shreddin again but in reality i think it might take another 2-3 before i'm full strength.
I broke mine last February and was out the rest of the season. It was a really bad break though it snapped in like 2 places and I had my full range of motion back in about a month and a half but it took a bit longer to get strength back. If you didn't fully break it then that's a really good sign just get it checked out and do what the doc says. The worst possible thing that you can do is get back on skis too early and break it again so make sure its fully healed before you get back out there.
This is my situation right now. Broke mine on December 23 and it feels pretty good. I dont have complete motion with it yet nor can I lift heavy things. I would be back skiing but.i dont wanna fuck baseball.
Total recovery was at least, 2-3 months. But, it's better to practice early mobilization though, but don't force it if it's not yet ready to heal dude.
Broke mine in the beginning of November and started skiing end of December. I partially rebroke it on Christmas Eve when I overshot a jump and had my knee slam into my shoulder so that sucked... I'm just now getting back to skiing and I'm not gonna ski park for another week or two
Broke mine in 3 places about 3 weeks ago. Still hurts real bad and doesn't feel right without the sling. Not hyped at all. Trying to figure out the same question when I will be good again.
