What made you ski instead of snowboarding when you first hit the slopes as a little nugget? Parents? Friends? Easier to pick up the ability to ride? It's just a thought in my head that I have been wondering about.
had done shit loads of cross country skiing and east coast touring for years before ever being on a ski hill. so it was just natural to just keep on skis. first few years I went to the ski hill I'd be riding my cross country skis too since I didn't have a downhill pair.
I skied because my parents skied but when I tried snowboarding I hated the feeling of having both feet stuck in one spot. I kind of want to try it again for shits and giggles
because i absolutely sucked at snowboarding, couldnt even carve. so i skied and loved it, but then i traded with my friend recently and could actually carve and hit boxes. i guess i didnt understand the concept of it when i was younger
started skiing when i was 3 but when i was about 8 i picked up snowboarding becasue of friends and i could do everything i could on a snowboard that i could on skis,(360's,boxes, the odd rail) but when i would go to the moutain from the park to the chair there was a big flat spot and i hated having to unbuckle so i decided to stick with skiing and im glad i did.
snowboarding far surpassed skiing in steeze when i was deciding. that's why i'm glad i stuck with both, because now in snowboarding we have half the guys wearing the tightest pant's you can find and the other kids. skiing is where the style is at the point
I snowboarded for 5 years before switching to skiing. Definitely loved the freedom of not being strapped in, and having to strap in your bindings every time you get off a lift. I also love it because I'm into parkour, and freeskiing goes very well with it.
I remember chilling while being towed on my parents XC ski sled as a little tot. I think i started downhill when I was about 5. Only tried snowboarding twice, first time the board was too big and I hated it, second time the equipment fit and it was pretty fun. Would like to try again.
My parents started me skiing when i was 2, and i mostly skied with my parents. I dont really like snowboarding because i hit my head alot and you have to strap in
I grew up cross country skiing (started at like 1 and a half) and started downhill at around seven it just seemed more natural to stick with it. Something about having my feet straped to the same thing did not work for me; i can surf and skateboard and waterski decently but when i tried to snowboard, and wakeboard it just did not feel right like i could stay up and turn and stuff but it did not suit me.
Started out skiing when I was a kid and did that for 4 or 5 years. Then I switched to snowboarding back when it was the cool thing to do and did that for 4 years. Then last year I started realizing I really liked watching park skiing and decided to give it another try. The first day back on skis I only lasted a half day until I grabbed my snowboard from the car, but I gave it another chance and realized I enjoyed it more than snowboarding.
Parents took me skiing when I was young and I picked it up naturally. Tried snowboarding once or twice but I sucked balls at it.
Got good at skiing groomers but east coast groomers get old and boring after awhile. Took a sabbatical from skiing for 3-4 years before I discovered park skiing last year and that brings me to where I am today.
All of my friends started snowboarding because they werent very good at skiing. I was the only one who stuck to skiing because I was pretty good and didn't want to start over.
