y i tried to track wht food i eat thet day and i have found artifical sweetener may cause it but i still get them just as much

ya i aslo get regular headaches alot but its usually when i tramp in the summer or play golf withought water or something

thats a good idea about the caffine thing and my buds generally understand how much a migrain can fuck me over #babumba

Have any of you been prescribed nortriptyline for your migraines? I'll be starting on it once I get some bloodwork and an ECG done. Did it decrease the frequency/severity of your migraines? What about other side-effects? The fact that this isn't really used as a anti-depressant anymore due to the severity of side-effects is making me a little nervous although at least initially my dose will be much lower.

We decided to go with an anti-depressant first because it will hopefully combat some of my anxiety and my sleep problems which both trigger my migraines, as well as attacking the migraines directly. If that doesn't work I'm torn between trying beta-blockers and an anti-convulsant. The seizure meds tend to have pretty bad side-effects but my mom has successfully been on some for 20yrs with no problems so the doctor thinks they might work well. Any experience with these?

Ive seen first hand what a life ending migraine looks like. Everyone says they get them but they dont know what a legit one is like.

Sure, everyone is different...most people are hypochondriacs like probably everyone in this thread. From what ive seen a permanent migraine would result in suicide pretty quick.

Pain is subjective and very difficult to quantitize. If you can type at a computer screen your shit isnt even close to the level my mom deals with...not even fuckin close.

Got to say I agree with this. I struggle to even deal with a migraine that lasts longer than an hour. A constant migraine would mean an end to your life, you couldn't do anything. When I get a migraine, I can't function like a normal human. I have to lie down in a completely blacked out room trying to sleep until it goes away. Nothing aside from sleep makes me feel at better. Sometimes I throw up, sometimes I cry, sometimes I bang my head against the wall to try and make them stop. A 'permanent migraine' would have me kill myself in less than 5 days. Anyone who says they live with a constant migraine...what you have is a headache.

You do know that there are different kinds of migraine, right? Migraine has more varieties than basically any form of illness that I am aware of. (@ your last sentence)

I get migraines once every two weeks, and I used to use excedrin but that eventually stopped working, but the one thing that has always worked was vaping some weed, it helps a lot with the pain, nausea, and will help me sleep it off. I know it's not possible to vape some everytime you get a migraine, but everytime I am able to vape it immediately helps.

Interestingly, there are even 'silent migraines' which involve the aura and other migraine symptoms but have no pain at all. Pain is merely a symptom, albeit it a very common one, of migraines, not actually the main feature of them.
