Does anyone know how to replicate this effect?

At the drop, around 1:02 and 1:04. It almost sounds like the synth is "cutting out" or "glitching"? It's been driving me crazy trying to recreate something like it for a track I'm working on.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Square wave+saw wave, turn sync on.
Turn portamento on, and do a pitch bend down like 2 octaves.
