Made a thread about this a while ago, seeing a Patrollers PoV, but everyone shot it down. Nice to see there is a little something something though, it's certainly a tough job, that doesn't get a lot of recognition. They work pretty hard, and often times have shitty hours lol.

This web site views patrolers like the police. Its kinda funny because i have never been yelled at by one it is always the yellow coats now they are the devils spawn.

yea, i mean in the end they do help out a lot of people, i only get angry at them when they tell me to slow down, or when im going under ropes when I know that I am experienced enough to handle it

this is too true, most ski patrollers are chill people who understand the desire to ski and at the same time work to keep everyone safe but the speed patrol... anyways here's a video from Mt.Bachelor, OR from a couple of weeks ago:

that being said, the vail resorts yellow jackets are so cranky and power hungry its insane. (especially at keystone)

im answering a question that i dont know, but i do ski bachelor. it gets pretty gnarly weather, and the winds will build up and make them pretty crusty with ice.

Ski patrol seems like such a great job. Unfortunately, the mountains pay them pretty much nothing otherwise I'd be doing it right now.

I was a ski patrol and I always tried to just let the experienced people do what they wanted because I know what it's like to be shut down doing something relatively safe. They didn't like me patrolling in purple pants though.

Are you kidding me? You're upset that you get yelled at for ducking a rope?

I hope you understand that terrain that is closed is closed for a reason, whether it's shitty coverage, shitty stability, or something else. It's not like patrol has a hate on for you and keeps terrain closed just so they can lap it privately.

Hahaha holy shit. I've never actually seen a no straightlining until I went to northstar. Those dudes seemed like dicks though not personally to me. Guess its hard not to when you have to stand in the middle of a run next to a banner all day.

But I have the utmost respect for patrollers. They're really the ones that save your life when you're fucked up. Plus they always know what's good to ski today and what's not. They're great.

I actually fell so hard skiing a few weeks ago I broke my helmet and had a seizure. And was not in a coma but basically Unconscious and blacked out for two days. Apparently I almost died so thank you mount snow ski patrol doing a good job so big shout out.

haha, that's epic !

But seriously, respect them, i've never had a bad experience with skipatrol ever and i ski all over the alps .... At most they are a bit 'brutal' at first but once you get talking with them they're usually very stoked skiers themselves and can respect you and your skiing plans, if you want to go freeriding and are not sure where to go, go have a talk with one of the guys, they usually know the best spots, are aware of current conditions and will gladly help out a stoked skier to have a good and safe day !

The patrol at a basin is so cool. They take skiers to un opened terrain to get skier traffic on the runs before they open them for a season

at least at our mtn, the de-icing is left to lift maintenance. patrollers don't know dick about how to fix lifts up here. but i still have mad respect for them. they killed it a few weeks ago when i busted my leg up and i've seen them pull many people out of some really hairy situations.

I have done this at a basin and copper it is awesome.

The training that patrol has to go through is so long though. I'm thinking about taking it over the summer.

the ski patrollers at mount snow are some of the coolest chillest people i know. my grandfather, dad, and uncle are all on ski patrol. my aunt was too until she had kids. mad respect for the ski patrol. thay have to deal with some pretty fucked up injuries.

Yes I'm grateful that someone is doing the job but fuck these front range douches who get jobs as yellow jackets but only come up one or two days a week. They only do it for the perks and act like tuff shit in a small ski town they aren't from

this isn't ski patrol that's they're lift maintenance crew. Being a patroller is a very thankless job. Very long hours and physically demanding but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. For all the people who are bitching about being yelled at for going to fast and ducking ropes there is a good reason behind it. i've never had any problems with ski patrol anywhere but my home mountain in red lodge mt. i broke my leg and just had a group of idiots come and try to help me and by that it was sit there and look at my leg for two hours before taking me to the medical center at the base and then another 2 hours until i made it to the hospital 10 minutes away. it was just an awesome day of skiing
