Boot sizing...

so i was sold the wrong size boots, they sold me a 29.5 when my foot on the sizer scale things they have at the stores is slightly over a 28, so my question is would it be better to go with a 28 or a 28.5 considering my toe is slightly over the 28 mark?

For a true performance fit, you usually downsize a minimum of one shell size below what you measure on a foot board. Therefor you should probably be in a 27, maybe even a 26. Additionally, ski boots don't really come in half-sizes. The only difference between a 28.0 and a 28.5 is the stock foot-bed. The shell and liner are identical. Find a trust worthy shop, and have them fit you.

hmm. It seems that only chrome automatically makes it a clicky. Otherwise I don't know how.

appreciate all the responses guys, i was fitted from a ski shop for these and i trusted their judgement, apparently they were just looking for a quick sale

There's a difference between being 'fitted' and being properly fitted. Sticking your foot on a size chart and taking the best guess is not being fitted.

thats kinda what the clerk did, he just measured my foot on the scale and brought out some sizes and asked which felt the best

get a refund on your boots and go to another, better, shop. That is not being fitted for boots. Ski boots do work like shoes. There are so many more factors you have to take into account when fitting people for boots. foot width (the last), foot volume, arch support needed, stiffness of the boot, calve shape, irregularities in feet and length of foot and im sure there is some other stuff and you as a customer cannot determine whether the boot is right for you without some direction and some questions from the fitter to asses how the boot fits and feel. go to another shop and ask for a boot fitting and if the first thing they ask is your shoe size, dont buy boots from them as shoes have so little to do with ski boots its just not appicable.

so the best way to go is to just try and sell these and get fitted for a new pair? the shop i bought them from refuses to take them back and wont refund me

Yes, sell these and ask around on here or TGR for a good bootfitter, not just a shop in your area.

Bootfitter. FInally bit the bullet and went to see one this month. Ended up putting me in a shell 2 sizes smaller than what I had, something I never would have done on my own. They were pretty rough the first couple days but now that they're packing in they feel amazing. Inkline Foot Science in Salt Lake for any of you Utah people- they were recommended to me on here and it was the best thing I've done.
